7 Always use the right power tool
– Do not use low-performance
machinery for heavy-duty tasks.
– Do not use the power tool for a
purpose it is not designed for. Do not,
for example, use a circular hand saw
to cut tree branches or logs.
8 Dress in appropriate clothing
– Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or
jewellery that may become caught in
moving parts.
– When working outdoors, we
recommend you wear sturdy shoes.
– Wear a hair net if you have long hair.
9 Use personal protective gear
– Wear goggles.
– When carrying out tasks that generate
dust, wear a breathing mask.
10 Connect the dust extraction unit
– If connections for dust extraction and
collection are available, ensure that
these are connected and used
correctly.
11 Do not use the cable for a purpose
it is not designed for
– Do not use the cable to pull the plug
out of the socket. Protect the power
cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.
12 Secure the work piece
– Use clamping mechanisms or a vice
to securely fasten the work piece.
This is safer than holding it in your
hands.
13 Avoid abnormal body positions
– Keep a secure footing and your
balance at all times.
14 Take good care of your tools
– Keep cutting tools sharp and clean in
order to work better and more safely.
– Follow the instructions regarding
oiling and changing tools.
– Regularly check the power cable of the
power tool and if it is damaged, have it
replaced by a recognised specialist.
– Check the extension cables regularly
and replace if they are damaged.
– Keep the handles dry, clean and free
of oil and grease.
15 Pull the plug out of the socket
– When the power tool is not in use,
before carrying out maintenance and
when changing tools, for example,
saw blade, drill, mill.
16 Do not leave a tool wrench
inserted
– Check before switching on whether
wrenches and adjustment tools have
been removed.
17 Prevent accidental starts
– Ensure that the switch is set to off
before putting the plug into the socket.
18 Use an extension cable designed
for outdoor use
– Use authorised and appropriately
labelled extension cables for outdoor
use.
