Raising the rear leg
Let out the winch so that you have enough rope to raise the rear leg. Wrap the leg tether around
the cow's leg and under the cow's knee. Secure the tether in the hook on the rope and then raise
the rear leg using the winch, so that the leg comes into contact with the rump bar. The spring-
assisted rump bar will rise with the leg. Raise the leg to the required height with the winch. Check
that there is still sufficient play in the spring-loaded section of the rump bar. Let the winch back out
and release the leg tether. Store the leg tether in a safe location.
Releasing the cow from the box
Lower the belly band completely until it is lying on the tread plate once more. Release the lock on
the right-hand pipe of the head bail, so that the pipe is fully open. Now swing the head bail open
over the cow's head and allow the cow to leave the box calmly. Close the head bail again. Open
the rump bar so that the machine is ready for the next cow.
