2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The camera is supplied with hazard-
ous mains voltage (230 V~). Leave
servicing to skilled personnel only.
Never make any modifications on the
camera which are not described in
these instructions. Inexpert handling
may cause an electric shock hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:
Do not operate the camera in areas of extreme tem-
peratures (admissible ambient temperature range
-10 to +55 °C).
Do not set the camera into operation, or immedi-
ately disconnect the mains plug from the mains
socket if
1. there is visible damage to the camera or to the
mains cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The camera must in any case be repaired by skilled
personnel.

3 Applications
In combination with a 5.8 GHz receiver of the series
AV-58..R from MONACOR and a monitor, the wire-
less cameras AV-5831CCD (black-and-white camera)
and AV-5831COL (colour camera) serve for wireless
video surveillance.
The transmission range largely depends on the
local conditions and the receiver used. The maximum
range is obtained without any obstacles between the
camera and the receiver. However, in buildings the
range is reduced by walls and ceilings, depending on
their condition.

3.1 Conformity and Approval
Herewith, MONACOR INTERNATIONAL declare that
the wireless cameras AV-5831CCD and AV-5831COL
are in accordance with the basic requirements
and the other relevant regulations of the directive
1995/5/EC. The declaration of conformity can be
found in the Internet via the MONACOR INTER-
NATIONAL home page (www.monacor.com).
The wireless cameras are licence-free and
generally approved for operation in EU and EFTA
countries.
4 Operation
4.1 Transmitting antenna
Screw the supplied omnidirectional antenna (3) onto
the camera outdoor housing (see fig. 1). For reasons
of approval only use this antenna. When connecting
another antenna, the approval expires!
4.2 Placing the camera and the receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is achieved when placing the units at a
height of minimum 1.5 m to 2 m above the ground.
Prior to the final mounting, a trial run is recommended
as the transmission quality can substantially be
changed by displacing the camera and/or the re-
ceiver by a few centimetres only.
4.3 Mounting
Mount the supplied camera bracket (2) to a suitable
place and tightly screw the camera on it (see fig. 1).
After setting into operation precisely adjust the camera
to the surveillance area. For this purpose release the
setscrew (1) and retighten it after the adjustment.
