HNS 526
3 Functions of the HNS 526
■ The HNS sensor is a non-contact sensor which measures the level of a fluid surface
within the recording range of the sensor. Depending on type, a signal proportional to the
level is produced and the switching output(s) is (are) set according to the pre-set
switching distance.
■ All settings are input via two push-buttons and a three-digit LED display (touch control).
■ Three-colour LEDs display all operating states.
■ N/C and N/O output functions can be selected.
■ The sensors can be adjusted manually via the numerical LED display or may be
programmed using Teach-in processes.
■ Useful additional functions can be set via the "Add-on functions" menu.
Note:
■ The level sensor is designed exclusively for stationary applications.
■ The operational scanning range given in the technical details indicates the
typical measuring range within which the sensor can be used to record the fluid
level. In the case of good reflectors, such as a calm fluid surface, the sensor can
also be used up to its maximum scanning range. Objects that are highly sound-
absorbent (e.g. foam) can also reduce the given operational scanning range.
Caution!
HNS sensors have a blind zone. If the level lies within the blind zone, false
measurements can be given which can result in damage to property or personal
injury.
Always ensure that the level is never within the blind zone.
