3.0 Before installation
3.1 Distance to infl ammable material
See fi g. 1 A.
3.2 Foundations
You need to make sure the fl oor is suitable for the entire
installation. See "2.0 Technical data" for specifi ed weight.
Flooring that is not attached to the foundation – "fl oating fl oors"
– must be removed beneath the product.
Remember: If a steel chimney resting on the insert is being used,
the weight of the steel chimney must be taken into account.
NB: It is extremely important to ensure that the product is stable;
the surface it is installed on must be completely infl exible.
3.3 Floor covering
The surround has an airtight bottom plate, so no extra fl oor
covering is required beneath the product.
Any fl oor covering of infl ammable material, such as linoleum,
carpets, etc. must be removed from under the installation area.
3.4 Floor plate
A plate made of steel or some other suitable non-infl ammable
metal (optional extra) is placed in front of the hearth.
Contact your local building authorities regarding restrictions and
installation requirements.
3.5 External air
A fl exible supply tube for combustion air (optional equipment,
art. no. 51012164) can be installed through a hole in the back
of the surround, or else through the hole cut where marked in
the bottom plate. See also point 3.1 in the manual "Jøtul F 370
Advance".
3.6 Steel chimney
If a top-mounted steel chimney is used, an uninsulated pipe
is fi tted from the insert to approximately 1 cm over the valve
plate 1 and 2 (part 19+20). A 60 mm off set pipe (optional extra)
must be used. Then fi t the steel chimney in accordance with
the operating instructions.
4.0 Installation
The product is heavy! Ensure you have help when positioning

3. Jøtul F 370 Advance (burn chamber)
4.1 Prior to installation
1. The standard product is supplied in two packages: the burn
chamber and surround with mounting sections.
2. Once the burn chamber has been unpacked, remove the
burn plates, baffl e, exhaust defl ector, inner bottom, ash

additional height. Select a stone with a hole drilled in it for
the rear stones. Two of the side stones (part 15) Fig. 6
should not be used with rear outlet.
See point 7 for instructions on installing rear outlet at a height
of 1050 mm. For other heights, continue from point 8.
7. Rear outlet at height 1050 mm:
8. If rear outlet for the fl ue pipe at height 1050 mm is selected,
fi rst drill a hole (fi g. 22 A) in the removable cover plates for
the smoke outlet before they are knocked out. See also point
3.1 in the Installation Manual for the Jøtul F 370 Advance.
9. Proceed as follows:
• The wooden block that holds the exhaust defl ector in
place should be positioned so that it supports the side
plates when the cover plates are knocked out.
• Unscrew the smoke outlet (fi g. 18B) from the top outlet.
• Unscrew the cover for the rear outlet from the inside of
the burn chamber (fi g. 18A).
• Place the gasket on the edge of the fl ue pipe (fi g. 5A).
• Attach the smoke outlet (fi g. 5B) to the end of the fl ue
pipe with the gasket.
• Secure the cover onto the top outlet (fi g. 18) using the
screws that held the smoke outlet in place.
10. Attach the four threaded bars together with sleeves and

See fi g. 2A+B. Screw the threaded bars (part 25) into the
