Expansion vessel (MAG)
To avoid pressure fluctuations
during standstill because of tempe-
rature changes, expansion vessels
filled with nitrogen (moisture
neutral) must be integrated in the
system.
Flexible hose
Flexible hoses are used to connect
lines to the unit to prevent vibrati-
on in the chiller from transmitting
to other system components.

Safety valve
Safety valves limit excessive opera-
ting pressure due to excessive hea-
ting or overfilling of the operating
medium. The valve outlet requires
unobstructed draining into a drain
pipe. Applicable local disposal ordi-
nances must be observed if glycol
is used.
The standard scope of delivery for
the unit includes a safety valve; an
additional valve may be necessary
at a suitable point.
Air bleeding valves
The unit has manual air bleeding
valves. The unit can be deaerated
here after the system has been
filled. It is also recommended that
additional automatic bleed valves
are provided in the supply and
return pipe at the highest point of
the installation.
Warning!
Glycol-tolerant air bleeding
valves are necessary when using
media that contains glycol.
Shut-off valves
Shut-off valves with full bore
should be used in cold water coo-
ling systems in general.
Dirt trap
A rinsable dirt trap must be in-
stalled upstream from the unit
intake. The mesh size is 0.5 mm.
Shut-off valves should be installed
immediately upstream and down-
stream of the dirt trap.
Note!
Improperly installed or missing
dirt traps can cause fouling of
the heat exchanger.

External medium storage tank
With its 100 litre operating fluid
reservoir, the cold water cooler figure
610 01 has enough buffer volume
to assure the required compressor
operating time even with small
cooling demands.
Anti-freeze protection
A water glycol mix is generally
used as medium for a cold water
cooling system. Depending on the
glycol type and concentration, the
viscosity changes, the loss in pres-
sure increases and the unit's cool-
ing capacity reduces. All system
components must be approved for
use with glycol.
As a rule, the addition to the water
of ethylene glycol, in a proportion
of 35%, with inhibitors for corro-
sion protection is recommended.
Note!
Product and safety data sheets
for the glycol type being used as
well as applicable local ordi-
nances (e.g. water resources act)
must be observed during use and
disposal.
Note!
Use the required type and mix
ratio appropriate for the applica-
tion area to ensure the freezing
point.
