Safety instructions

Read these operating instructions through carefully before using the equipment.
Incorrect use could endanger life and limb, and may invalidate any warranty claims
against Fronius.
Warnings & and safety limitations
Only wear the protective helmet if it is connected to the blower and the blower is in
operation. The blower must only be used in connection with breathing apparatus
which corresponds to the requirements of the European and Australian standards.
This PAPR does not provide protection against gaseous substances. Put the unit on
and switch it on before starting work; only then it is safe to enter the danger zone. If
the blower malfunctions, leave the danger zone immediately. As soon as the battery
warning is triggered (red LED illuminates and audible signal is heard), you must leave
the danger zone immediately. Either recharge the battery or replace it. As soon as
the air flow warning is triggered (red LED illuminates and audible signal is heard),
leave the danger zone immediately and change the filter.
A strong wind from the side or from behind may affect the protection provided
by the helmet. In the case of extremely high environment particle pollution, very
low pressure may be caused in the helmet by breathing in. This could reduce the
protection. In This case, do not remove the helmet or switch off the blower until
you have left the danger zone. When removing the helmet, take all necessary
precautionary measures to prevent breathing in dust or contaminated material that
may have collected on the outside of the helmet. Never immerse the blower or the
battery in water; this could damage the unit. Ensure that no water enters the unit
when cleaning it. Used filters cannot be cleaned or recycled. Attempts to clean filters
by using compressed air or water damages the filter. Never short-circuit the battery;
This could cause fatal damage.
The PAPR may not be used,
– in a flammable or explosive atmosphere,
– if the inhaled air is lacking in oxygen (Europe: <17 %, Australia: <19%) or the
concentration of toxins is so high that a protection class in excess of TH3P for
Europe and P3 for Australia),
– in temperatures below -5 °C or above +55 °C,
– in surroundings where there is immediate danger to life and limb.

Warranty & liability
Fronius will repair the product or replace it where necessary in cases of materials or
manufacturing defects arising within 24 months from the date of purchase, provided
the product has been used in accordance with the authorised use as provided by
the operating instructions.
The warranty will be invalidated if the serial number has been altered, removed or
rendered illegible, or the product has been intentionally damaged, misused, opened
up or modified. The warranty will also be invalidated if the product is used incorrectly,
non-original replacement parts are used or it is not properly serviced.
The warranty only covers repairs or the replacement of defective parts. Under
no circumstances does Fronius undertake to provide any warranty for general
breakdowns or consequential damage.
Area of application
The VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter is a powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) for protection
against dust and particles. This system is TH3P certified in accordance with European
standard EN 12941: 1998 and P3 certified in accordance with Australian standard
AS/NZS 1716: 2012.
The VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter is used to support the ventilation process, reducing
the effort required to breathe and thus reducing tiredness. The electronic system
for controlling the airflow monitors the blower in order to ensure a constant flow of
min. 150 nl/min*.
The effective operating time of the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter with a fully charged
battery depends on the battery type and filter state(see technical specifications
table).
Prior to pre-use inspection and testing
Carefully remove the packaging of the various parts.

Check whether the unit is complete in accordance with the scope of delivery and

nothing has been damaged. If any damage is found or a part is missing, contact
the sales department immediately. Never use a damaged or incomplete unit.
The delivered battery is not fully charged. Therefore charge battery completely

before first usage
Pre-use inspection and testing
Before every use, ensure that the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter is in faultless condition
and proceed as follows:
1. Ensure that the master filter and the prefilter is properly installed and that the
cover removal handle is holding securely (Cover has to close with a clicking
sound) (Fig. 1)
2. Check the air hose and air connector for damage (holes, tears, cuts). Connect the
air hose to the helmet and blower by pressing the hose onto the corresponding
part on the unit until a clicking sound ensures that it cannot be removed by a
slight pull. (Fig .2).
3. Switch on the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter by pressing the on/off button for about 0.5
seconds. (Fig. 3). During the startup of around 3 seconds all 5 LED's ( 3 LED's in
green for the flow level selection and 2 LED's in red, whereof one is for battery
status and the other one for filter status – Fig. 4) are switched on and an audible
alarm (3 beeps) will sound. Afterwards the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter is ready for
use.
4. In addition, during this startup time the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter performs an
initial self-check to ensure that the unit delivers a correct flow above 150 l/min.
If the red filter LED turns off after the before-mentioned 3 seconds, a flow of at
least 150 l/min is maintained. Due to an in-built flow sensor the VIZOR 3000
Air/3 Filter controls and continously maintains a correct flow above 150 l/min
during the entire operation.
5. As mentioned the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter has a visible and audible warning (Fig.
5) for low battery and missing, clogged or incorrectly fitted filter. If a warning is
triggered the danger zone must be left immediately!
Check the low airflow/filter clogging alarm by simulating a low airflow condition
as follows:
With the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter unit turned on, remove the hose from the
helmet and tightly cover the end of the hose with the palm of your clean hand;
the motor will then automatically speed up, attempting to compensate for the low
airflow condition. Continue to press your palm tightly against the end of the hose,
making a tight seal. When you have achieved a tight seal, the unit will sound an
audible alarm and the red filter LED will be switched on.
6. To stop the alarm press the on/off button for about 3 seconds, and connect the
hose to the helmet.
7. Ensure that the safety helmet is undamaged, put it on and strap the PAPR to
your hips.
8. Start the blower and ensure that the air in the safety helmet is circulating
normally.
If there is any damage you must replace any defective parts before using the PAPR.
Mode of operation
Adjusting the belt size: Put the belt on (Fig. 6 ) and adjust the size so that the blower
unit sits comfortably on your hips.
Removing the air hose: Push the hose connection on both sides and remove it
from the corresponding part (Fig. 7).
Install the battery: The battery has to be inserted into the respective slide rail on
the bottom right side of the VIZOR 3000 Air/3 Filter. Slide the battery until a click
is heard (Fig. 8).
Removing and charging the battery: Pull back the cover removal handle on the
battery and pull it out of the slide rail until it is completely removed from the blower
unit (Fig. 9). Connect then the battery to the charger (Fig. 10). The charging process
is signalised by the yellow illuminated LED on the charger. After charging has been
completed, the LED turns green and the trickle charging mode is activated.
Flow adjustment: The blower has three air flow levels : 150/200/250 nl/min*. To
change the air flow level, cycle through the different flow levels by pressing the air
flow button until your requested air flow level is reached. (Fig. 11)
Master filter and prefilter replacement: In case of a filter alarm indication please
replace the prefilter (Fig. 12). Please monitor the time between filter alarms. As for
