it must be taken out of use immediately. Only after it has been
checked and its suitability confirmed in writing by a competent
person or the manufacturer should it continue being used.
The permissible rated load of each person to be secured is 140 kg
in the vertical safety catch. Where edges are used, the rated load
of each person to be secured is 100 kg.
Attaching the fall arrester device (see fig. 2.1): All fall arrester
devices can be attached on the anchor side (1) via a carabiner
(EN 362 e.g. Oval Steel S) or via a carabiner and a sling strap
(e.g. LOOP 22kN) with a minimum failure load of 22kN, and to
a suitable anchor point (compliant with EN 795 - 12kN / North
America 22.2 kN).
Caution: Never use a fastener or other restraining connection to
extend the anchor point as this could prevent the blocking system
from working. Clip the connection element on the person side (4)
exclusively to a fall arresting attachment point on the harness
marked "A". (See Fig. 2.1). The fall arrester devices (2) should not
be supported on edges and the safety rope running in and out (rope,
webbing 3) should not be impeded in the direction in which it moves
and should never run over edges or around bends (see point 4).
3.) Use
Before using the device, a visual and functional inspection must
be carried out. Start by checking the unit, including the full length
of the retractable safety rope, for any damage (rips, deformation,
corrosion etc.). To check the locking function, pull quickly and firmly
on the rope to ensure that the fall arrester locks (Fig. 3.1). Ensure
that the safety rope can be pulled out and back in freely. Never
release it and allow it to rewind in an uncontrolled manner. Always
rewind it in a controlled way (Fig. 3.2). If any faults are detected,
the fall arrester must be taken out of use immediately and checked
by a competent person.
Be aware of the risk of electrical cables (Fig. 3.3)
Always ensure that all carabiners have been closed correctly (Fig. 3.4).
The force on the structure in the event of a fall is max. 6kN (Fig. 3.5).
Avoid rope slack (Fig. 3.6).
The anchor point should ideally be perpendicular above the
workplace. If the anchor point is lower than the workplace, the
danger of crashing into lower-lying structures may exist in the event
of a fall. If the anchor point is on one side, there is the danger of an
impact on structures positioned on the side. To avoid swinging falls,
the work area or lateral movements from the central axis towards
both sides should be limited to a maximum of 1.5 m. In other cases,
no permanent anchor points, but instead anchor devices of type /
class C (only if approved for shared use) or type / class D according
to EN 795 should be used. The device must hang swinging freely
in the anchor point. If this is not possible or if larger excursions
are required, then no individual anchor points should be used, but
rather a system according to EN 795 class D (track) or C (rope)
should be used, for example (Fig. 3.7).
