Speed control
You can continuously adjust the speed within
the speed range using the adjusting wheel [3.1]
(see "Technical data"). This enables you to opti
mise the cutting speed to suit each surface.
3.1
Speed range per material
Solid wood (hard, soft)
Chipboard and hardboard
Laminated wood, blockboard, veneered
and laminated panels
Laminate, mineral materials
Plaster- and cement-bonded chipboard
and fibreboard
Aluminium panels and profiles up to
15 mm
Plastics, fibre-reinforced plastics, paper
and fabric
Acrylic glass
Temperature cut-out
When exceeding a certain engine temperature
level, the machine power supply and speed are
capped. The power tool continues operating at
reduced power to allow the ventilator to cool
the motor rapidly. The power tool resumes to
full performance automatically once the motor
has cooled sufficiently.
Current limiting
Current limiting prevents excessive current
consumption under extreme overload, which
can lead to a decrease in the motor speed. The
motor immediately restarts after the load is re
moved.

Cutting depth

The cutting depth can be set at 0 to 2-15/16" (0
- 75 mm):
Press the cutting depth stop [4.3] and
move it to the desired cutting depth (the
10
values specified on the scale [4.1] apply to
0° cuts without guide rail),
Release the cutting depth stop (the cutting
depth stop notches along in 1 mm-steps).
The sawing unit can now be pressed down to
the set cutting depth.
A grub screw (M4x8 to M4x12) can be
screwed into the hole [4.2] on the cutting
depth stop. By turning the grub screw, the
cutting depth can be set even more exactly
(± 0.004" (0.1 mm)).

Adjusting the cutting angle

The sawing unit can be swivelled between 0°
1–3
and 45°:
Loosen rotary knobs ([5.1], [5.3]),
4–6
Swivel sawing unit to the desired cutting
angle [5.2],
Retighten rotary knobs.
3–5
Both end positions (0° and 45°) are set at
the factory and can be readjusted by the
4–5
after-sales service team.

Selecting the saw blade
Festool saw blades are identified by a coloured
ring. The colour of the ring represents the ma
terial for which the saw blade is suited.
Refer to the necessary saw blade data (see sec
tion 4.1).
