6 Commissioning and operating
Before switching on the VVX for the first time, please follow the instructions in the following
section.

6.1 Commissioning

Please check before initial start up whether
 the VVX has been installed correctly and that all screw connections are sealed.
 the electrical wiring has been connected properly.
 the measuring system is vented by flushing.
 Switch on the supply voltage.

6.2 Measuring operation

The following sections apply only to devices equipped with the corresponding functions.

6.2.1 Flow measurement

VVX with pulse output:
Depending upon the product version, the VVX
generates an NPN, PNP or push-pull square
wave signal proportional to the flow.
The pulse rate corresponds to the flow ( fig-
ure).
VVX with analogue output:
The voltage signal U is present at the ana-

logue output of the VVX.
It is proportional to the measured flow.

6.2.2 Temperature measurement

The temperature is measured by an additional
sensor R integrated into the measuring

tube.
This is either an NTC thermistor or a Pt1000
sensor.
If the VVX has an analogue output, U may

optionally be accessed in place of the flow sig-
nal.
