Due to their operating principle, vortex flow sensors are sensitive to the flow profile,
so a calming section must always be fitted.
To obtain the highest possible measurement accuracy, straight inlet and outlet sec-
tions matching the inner diameter (VVX 15 = 13 mm / VVX 25 = 25 mm) of the device
should be used. The length of the inlet section should be at least 10 x DN, and the
length of the outlet section should be at least 5 x DN.
IMPORTANT! Risk of interference from external vortices!
External vortices can be generated by flow disturbances in the inlet and outlet sections
(due to offsets, protruding flat gaskets, changes in diameter, etc.). These vortices may
result in bogus pressure pulses that cause the VVX to exceed its specified error margin.
 Ensure that the inside diameter of the pipe matches inside diameter of the VVX.
 Avoid obstructions in the inlet and outlet sections.
 Provide suitable calming sections at the inlet and outlet.
IMPORTANT! Effect of mechanical vibrations!
Mechanical vibrations transmitted to the VVX from sources such as pumps or compres-
sors can lead to measurement errors.
 Select the installation location to prevent the transmission of vibrations to the VVX.

4.2 Mounting

CAUTION! High temperature!
The exposed surfaces of the device may be hot during operation.
 Never touch the VVX when it contains a hot medium (> 80 °C).
 Ensure the VVX or the pipe to which it is connected is fitted with a high temperature
warning sign if it is used with a hot medium (> 80 °C).
The VVX is installed directly into the pipeline. The compact design and light weight of the unit
make wall-mounting unnecessary.
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
Use only the provided gasket.
Observe the flow direction indicated on the device.
Observe the mounting dimensions ( § 9.3
"Dimension").
 Select an appropriate location for installation ( § 4.1
"Installation instructions).
To ensure the best possible measuring accuracy, a ver-
tical installation position with increasing flow is prefera-
ble (no collecting of dirt deposits).
 Install the appropriate screwed connections at the in-
stallation location.
 Insert the VVX together with the gaskets.
 Screw the union nuts of the screwed connection onto the
process connections of the VVX.
