egory 1G/1D and IECEx system
ntroduction
This document should be read and understood in all its parts before
proceeding with installation of the sensor. The Namur Inductive Sensor
»Ex IS M...b ...ABBAB N 1GD ... series«, is intended to be used in po-
tentially explosive atmospheres with the presence of GAS and/or
DUST. All sensors of this series are covered by the EC-type Examina-
tion Certificate n° IMQ 13 ATEX xxx and IECEx Certificate of Conformity
n° IECEx IMQ 13 NNNN issued by Notified Body IMQ spa.

Installation and Set-up
The sensor must be installed, connected and activated only by special-
ized personnel. Personnel must be familiar with the types of protec-
tion anti-ignition, the production rules and regulations in the potential-
ly explosive area. The user is solely responsible for the choice and the
use of the sensor suitable to the final application. Check whether the
classification of the sensor is suitable for the application (see »ATEX/
IECEx Marking« to paragraph 2 and marking on the equipment). When
installing the sensor observe the following requirements:
- The sensor shall be powered by associated apparatus covered by,
EC-Type Examination Certificate ( according to EN 60079-0, EN
60079-11 and EN 60079-26) and/or IECEx Certificate of Conformity
(CoC) (according to IEC 60079-0, IEC 60079-11 and IEC 60079-26)
with the following output parameter values :
Uo < 17 V
Io < 17 mA
Lo > 175 µH
Co > 0.25 µF
The values apply to potted cables max 20m long.
- The max operating temperature is: -25 °C ... +60 °C
Installation remarks
Always observe the following installation remarks
- Adhere to the relevant national regulations and provisions.
- Avoid electrostatic charging on plastic units and cables.
- Protect unit and cable against damage.
- The relevant installation regulations must be adhered to.
- Ground wire the metallic parts.
- Wiring instructions and the related electrical parameters show on
the labelling or technical datasheet.
Maintance and repair
The sensor must not be modified nor can it be repaired. In case of a
fault please contact steute. If necessary, you can ask the steute for a
copy of the following documents:
