Using the Zoom Function
You can use the zoom lever (11) to select various levels of magnification; in general, the zoom is continuous.
Simply move the lever back or forth to zoom.
Please note: When changing the magnification setting, it is necessary to re-adjust the image sharpness using
the centre focussing wheel (6).
NOTES on cleaning
Clean the eyepieces and lenses only with a soft, lint-free cloth, like a microfibre cloth. Do not apply excess
pressure to the cloth to avoid scratching the lenses.
To remove more stubborn dirt, moisten the cleaning cloth with an eyeglass-cleaning solution, and wipe the
lenses gently.
Protect the device from dust and moisture. After use, particularly in high humidity, let the device acclimatize for
a short period of time before storing so that the residual moisture can dissipate. Remove the dust cover and
store it in the included bag during use.
DISPOSAL
Dispose of the packaging materials properly, according to their type, such as paper or cardboard. Con-
tact your local waste-disposal service or environmental authority for information on the proper disposal.
Please take the current legal regulations into account when disposing of your device. You can get more
information on the proper disposal from your local waste-disposal service or environmental authority.
Binoculars ABC
MAGNIFICATION
The magnification value always is mentioned first in the model name (e.g. 7x50). With a magnification of 7x, the
observed object appears one-seventh of the distance away that it really is. Zoom binoculars have an adjustable
magnification. For example, the amplification can be altered between 8x and 24x magnification in an 8-24x50
model.
OBJECTIVE DIAMETER
The lens pointing towards the object is called the objective lens. In the model name (e.g. 7x50), the second
number stands for the objective diameter in millimeters. The objective lens diameter is an indicator of the
amount of light that can enter the binoculars.
An objective diameter of 20 mm is sufficient for observations during the day. In twilight conditions, an objective
diameter of 50 mm or larger is recommended, as the lenses can gather much more of the remaining light.
