Calibrating the digital compass
This must be calibrated before use. Follow the steps below to do so. Stay as far away
from metal during this procedure as possible.
1.
Switch the digital compass on using the switch (5).
2.
Turn your 7x50 Binocom digital 360 degrees as shown in the three illustrations.
Fig. 3
Your digital compass is now calibrated and your binoculars are ready for use.
Changing the batteries
If the display weakens the battery compartment should be opened with a coin and the
batteries (type CR-2 / 3 volts) replaced. Make sure polarity is correct.
Use of the scales
A horizontal and a vertical distance and size calculation scale are also shown in the left
lens.
When looking through your 7x50 Binocom digital these scales are visible in the centre of
your field of vision. The scale (100 units = 10 strokes) can be used to determine distance
and size of objects. Point your binoculars e.g. at an object you know is 4 m high, for
example. Count the number of strokes the object fills (Fig. 4). (Example; 5 full strokes =
50 units). Set the top scale (MIL) of the rotating ring of the distance calculator (3) to the
number of units (e.g. 50) on the white marking. The object scale (OBJECT) shows the
height or width of the object and the bottom (DISTANCE) the distance to it in meters. You
can now read off how many meters away the object is. (E.g. height 4 m on the object
scale gives you a distance of 80 m (Fig. 5).
