Visually and by sound check possible leakages from:
•
• Flow outlet
• Filling port
• Pressure gauge
Shut-off valve
•
The lower part of fl ow control knob (fuse venting)
•
If any leakage is detected, apply the procedure described in Chapter 7c. and return the valve
to GCE for service.
FUNCTIONAL CHECK BEFORE USE
Set fl ow control knob on ZERO position - ensure that fl ow control knob engages correctly.
•
• Open slowly the combination shut-off valve by turning the hand wheel in anticlockwise
direction approx 1 to 1½ turns.
Sudden opening could result in a danger of fi re or explosion arising from oxygen pressure
shocks. Insu cient opening of the shut-o valve could reduce actual fl ow delivered.
• Check if pressure is indicated on pressure gauge. If pressure indicator enters red zone, return
the medical package (cylinder with valve) for its refi lling.
Check that there is a gas fl ow at each set positions in both clockwise and anticlockwise
•
turning direction (for instance by sound or checking presence of bubbles in a humidifi er).
Turn off at the shut-off valve by turning the hand wheel in a clockwise direction to stop
•
position. Do not use excessive force (Maximum recommended closing torque is 3 Nm).
Reset fl ow control knob on ZERO position when it's not venting anymore - until the fl ow
•
control knob engages.
For combination valve fi tted with pressure outlet, ensure it is in working condition by
•
connecting and disconnecting quick-coupler probe (refer to the section hereunder for
pressure outlet connection).
6.1.2. USER OUTLET S CONNECTION
LIST OF RECOGNIZED ACCESSORIES
To be connected to the fl ow outlet:
• Humidifi er extension (the outlet hose nipple is in horizontal position, a "L-shaped" extension
may be necessary to use a humidifi er, ask for special extension & humidifi ers from GCE),
• Oxygen tubing connected with breathing mask or cannula,
Gas saver,
•
Atomizer.
•
To be connected to the pressure outlet:
Low-pressure hoses,
•
Flow meters,
•
• Venturi suction ejectors.
Before connecting any accessory or medical device to the regulator, always check that they
are fully compatible with the product connection features & the product performances.
PRESSURE OUTLET
• Ensure that the quick-coupler probe is compatible with the pressure outlet features.
Connect the quick-coupler probe.
•
Ensure that quick-coupler probe is well engaged.
•
If the pressure indicator enters red zone and the gas is supplied via pressure outlet, outlet
pressure P2 can be lower than 3.6 bar (see appendix nr. 1 for each product).
If pressure outlet is to be connected to medical device that requires high gas fl ow (for instance
pulmonary ventilator that requires gas fl ow 100 l/min at the minimum pressure 2.8 bar), check
required fl ow of connecting medical device with pressure and fl ow characteristics of the
valve stated in appendix nr. 1. For assurance of su cient performance (pressure and fl ow
characteristics of the valve) do not use medical package if pressure indicator enters red zone.
