• Install the refractometer indoors or outdoors. In outdoor installations, protect the device
from exposure to sunlight and rain.
• If the pipe is translucent, protect the prism from light. Outside light may disturb the
measurements.
• Use additional cooling according to the figure. Notice that the values in the figure are
indicative. Required cooling depends on the installation location and environment.

Installation dimensions for hygienic processes
When installing the refractometer in a hygienic, EHEDG compliant process, make sure the
length of the dead leg (L) is smaller than its inner diameter (D). With probe model
refractometers, follow the equation L≤(D-d).
