2 SAFETY INFORMATION AND LIMITATIONS
Genesi SCPH is a Category III Personal Protective Equipment conforming to Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and is an integral part
of a Fall Protection and/or Rescue System and as such should only be used by appropriately trained and instructed
personnel.
Read, understand and follow all the information in these instructions before using the Genesis SCPH system as
failure to do so could result in serious personal injury or death.
These instructions should be provided to the user of the system and kept for future reference.
If you have any further doubts about the correct use, limitations or special features and compatibility of the product, please
also read the technical and informative documentation accompanying the devices and auxiliary components.
The residual risks associated with the use of the confined spaces access and emergency equipment have been
carefully assessed and the following should be carefully followed to avoid serious injury or death:
-
The Genesis SCPH System must be checked at least before each use by the end user as indicated in par. 6
-
The Genesis SCPH system must be inspected at least every 12 months by a competent person who is appropriately trained,
as indicated in par. 6, and the results of the formal inspection should be recorded and retained for further reference. At
the end of the periodic inspection, the date of the next inspection must be marked on the device. User safety depends
on the continued efficiency and durability of the equipment
-
If, following a periodic check or inspection, a defect is found on the device, it must be put out of use and NOT USED until
it has been overhauled/maintained by a company authorized by the manufacturer and restored to a condition of correct
and safe use, issuing written confirmation.
-
Remove all device components at the end of each operation and store them in a dry environment, as far as possible from
sources of heat and sunlight that accelerate the ageing process of the polymeric parts.
-
Before any installation, check that the installation sites are free of pollutants (e.g. acids in concentration in the atmosphere)
and that the service temperatures are between -40° C and +80°C.
-
Any device that has been subjected to fall arrest or impact force must be removed from service immediately. Refer to the
user instructions or contact GENESI.
-
The device must be installed EXCLUSIVELY as detailed in the installation/use instructions for the device. Installations and
uses outside the scope of the instructions must be approved in writing by GENESI.
-
The substrate or structure to which the device is attached must be able to withstand the static loads specified for the device
at the orientations permitted in the user instructions or installation instructions; verification of the substrate must be carried
out by a qualified technician (engineer) or alternatively a static test of the fixing systems is recommended.
-
It is NOT ALLOWED to exceed the number of users indicated on the device.
-
Handle the device with care; be aware of some moving parts during installation that could create potential point of
entanglement.
-
Never connect to the device before all parts of the system have been fitted. It is forbidden to adjust the system with the
user connected to the device.
-
Connect the fall arrest devices ONLY in the connection positions designated by the manufacturer.
-
Ensure that fall arrest protection systems/subsystems assembled with components made by different manufacturers are
compatible and meet the requirements of the applicable standards. Always consult a competent or qualified person before
using these systems.
-
Compliant and approved configurations are only those shown in Figure 1.
-
Never use Genesi SC outside of its limitations or for purposes other than those intended
-
It is essential for the safety of the user that, if the product is resold outside the original country of destination, the dealer
provides instructions for use, maintenance, periodic inspection and repair in the language of the country in which the device
is used
In addition, to reduce the risks associated with working at a height that could lead to serious personal
injury and death, particular attention should be paid to the following:
Always ensure that the medical and psycho-physical condition of the user of Genesi SC devices is such that the safety of
-
the user is not compromised under normal and emergency conditions of use. Consult the competent doctor if necessary.
-
Never exceed the maximum capacity indicated on the various personal protective equipment used.
-
It is essential for safety that the device and the anchor point are always positioned so that work is carried out in such a
way as to minimize both the potential for falling and the potential fall distance.
-
Before any use, assess the fall clearance and compare it with the free fall height. For the safety of the operator, it is
essential to check the required clearance below the user at the workstation before each use so that, in the event of a fall,
