General Safety Warnings and
Instructions for Battery-Pow‐
ered Products
This section contains the general safety warn‐
ings and instructions for battery-powered prod‐
ucts contained in UL 2595 / CSA C22.2 No. 0.23.
WARNING
■ Read all safety warnings and instructions.
■ Failure to follow the warnings and instructions
may result in electric shock, fire, explosion
and/or serious injury or property damage.
■ Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the trig‐
ger switch is in the off-position before inserting
the battery, picking up or carrying the blower.
Carrying the blower with your finger on the
trigger switch or inserting the battery with the
trigger switch engaged increases the likeli‐
hood of unintended starting and possible acci‐
dents.
■ Remove the battery from the blower before
making any adjustments, changing accesso‐
ries, or storing. Such preventive safety meas‐
ures reduce the risk of starting the blower
accidentally.
■ Recharge only with the charger specified by
STIHL. A charger that is suitable for one type
of battery may create a risk of fire when used
with another battery.
■ Use the blower only with the specifically desig‐
nated batteries. Use of any other battery may
create a risk of fire or explosion and personal
injury or property damage.
■ When the battery is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects, like paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal
objects, that can make a connection from one
terminal to another. Shorting the battery termi‐
nals together may cause burns or a fire.
■ Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejec‐
ted from the battery; avoid contact. If contact
accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid
contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help.
Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irri‐
tation, chemical burns or respiratory illness
from inhalation.
■ Do not use a battery or blower that is dam‐
aged or modified. Damaged or modified bat‐
teries may exhibit unpredictable behavior
resulting in fire, explosion and risk of injury or
property damage.

■ Do not expose a battery or the blower to fire or
excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or
temperatures above 212 °F (100 °C) may
cause fire and explosion.
■ Follow all charging instructions and do not
charge the battery outside of the ambient tem‐
perature range specified. Charging improperly
or outside the specified range may damage
the battery and increase the risk of fire.
■ Have servicing performed by a qualified repair
person using only identical replacement parts.
■ Do not modify or attempt to repair the blower
or the battery pack. Follow the instructions for
use and care.

short circuit, which could lead to electric
shock, fire and explosion, make sure the
charger and its components are dry and not
damaged; operate the charger indoors at an
appropriate ambient temperature,
WARNING
■ A typical household electrical circuit is
between 15 and 20 amps. A single STIHL
AL 101 charger draws approximately
1.3 amps. To reduce the risk of fire from over‐
loading an electrical circuit:
► Ensure the electrical system is rated to
withstand the expected electrical draw
before charging your battery.
► Charge multiple batteries one at a time or
on separate circuits, unless you know your
circuit can handle the total expected draw
from multiple chargers.
