10. Do the procedure steps above again and again until the sample
volume is completed in 1 minute.

Manual mode

In the Manual mode, the sampler operates as a fluid transport device
and not as a volume sampler. The sight tube detectors are not used. The
procedure below can be repeated as often as necessary.
To operate the sampler in Manual mode:
1. Set the vacuum/pressure mode switch to the pressure mode.
2. Set the manual/auto mode switch to automatic.
3. Turn on the automatic bottle sampler.
4. Configure the particle counter for manual mode operation.
5. Make sure that a clean (particle free) stir bar is in the sample bottle.
Place the sample bottle on the stir assembly and lock the stir
assembly to the sample chamber.
6. Push the automatic/manual switch.
The remote pump starts and there is fluid in the sight tube.
7. When the sample reaches the zero indicator on the sight tube, push
Start on the counter.
8. When the sample reaches the correct indicator on the sight tube, or
when the instrument has sent enough sample for data, push the
Automatic/Manual switch.
The pump and counter stop.
9. After sample operations are complete, flush the sensor sample lines
and the sight tube with clean (particle free) water or other clean liquid
that can mix with the sample liquid.

Automatic mode

In the Automatic mode, the level detectors of the ABS 2 control the start
and stop of the particle counting process.
1. Make sure that the volume level detector is set at the necessary
sample volume indicator on the sight tube.
14 English
Note: If multiple sample runs are necessary, make sure that the total sample
volume is sufficiently large. The total sample volume is equal to the sample
volume and the instrument tare volume combined (16 mL).
2. Set the pressure/vacuum switch to pressure mode.
3. Set the automatic/manual switch to Automatic.
4. Turn on the automatic bottle sampler and the pump (if used).
5. Configure the particle counter for Volume mode operation.
6. Make sure that a clean (particle free) stir bar is in the sample bottle.
7. Put the sample bottle on the stir assembly and lock the stir assembly
to the sample chamber.
8. Start the sampling.
The pump starts and fluid becomes visible in the sight tube. Counting
begins when the sample level reaches the lower level detector.
Counting ends when the sample level reaches the upper volume
level detector. The sample drains from the sight tube and the
instrument is ready for the next sample analysis.
9. After sample operations are complete, flush the sensor sample lines
and the sight tube with clean (particle free) water or other clean liquid
that can mix with the sample liquid.

Vacuum mode

Personal injury hazard. Do not adjust the chamber release and the
lock handle while the sample chamber is under pressure. Always
depressurize the sample pressure chamber before the lock handle is
tightened or released.
