by yourself.

tension during this process.
CUTTING THE TRUNK
Danger! Cutting down mid-size or large trees is dangerous and requires
training. Cut tree trunks or limbs may break or shift unexpectedly
and can result in you falling or suffering a crushing or penetrating
injury. Contact a trained arborist or tree-removal specialists when a tree
requires removal.
These instructions are not a replacement for consulting with an arborist or
tree-removal specialist.
Use ropes to extend your reach when cutting anything larger than a sapling.
1.
Determine which way a tree is leaning, as this is the most likely direction
it will fall when cut.
a.
A tree may not always fall in the direction you expect. Have several
escape routes planned.
b.
You can attach a rope to the tree and have another person pull the
tree in a specific direction during the cut. Make sure the person will
not be in the impact area of the falling tree. You can also do this with
two people pulling at different angles so the tree falls in the area
in-between them,
2.
Make the initial cut part way up the tree. Should something go wrong, you
will be on your feet to evacuate from the area.
3.
Be aware that the tree may pinch the pocket chainsaw at the cut.
4.
Extend your reach by using ropes attached to the handles with a knot or
other secure method.
