3. Overview and Operation Elements

4.0 Charging the Battery

4.1. General remarks

The power is supplied to the stroboscope by means of a
removable, rechargeable battery pack, which can be simply
inserted into the instrument and snaps into place. Especially
for those who constantly use the stroboscope, it is
recommendable to purchase an additional rechargeable
battery (Part No.: SMS-932). The battery pack may be charged,
only after it has been removed from the main instrument. In
order to attain the optimal battery life, please consider the tips
for battery storage and maintenance.

4.2 Rechargeable battery pack

When you use the stroboscope for the first time, or when
is indicated on the display, you should charge the
BATT]
battery pack immediately.
Switch off the instrument.
Press the button (1) at both sides of the instrument at the
same time, and pull the battery pack out.
Plug in the battery charger with the appropriate plug into your mains supply, and the charger socket into
the appropriate connection socket on the battery pack. The LED (3) on the battery charger lights up
green.
During the charging process, which can take up to 4 h, the LED (2) at the rear side of the battery pack
lights up red. When the LED goes out, the charging process is complete.
Remove the charger and insert the battery pack back into the main instrument, until both sides snap into
place. The stroboscope is ready to use.
4.3. Storage of rechargeable batteries
Store the NiMH-batteries always fully charged, and as cool and dry as possible. The durability of the batteries
will be considerably shortened, when the storage temperature rises. If you do not use the instrument for a
longer period of time, you should fully discharge the battery and then fully recharge it, once every 3 months.
