8.2.1 Replacing the flash tube
The durability of Xenon flash tubes is approximately
100 mio flashes (approx. 150h @ 10.000FPM). When
the flashing performance decreases, the flashes turn
bluish or start being interrupted, they need to be
replaced. A spare flash tube (Part No. SMS-908) is
included in the standard scope of delivery. For
replacing the flash tube, please follow the
instructions below:
Switch off the instrument and pull the
rechargeable battery pack out of the main
body.
Wait approx. 5 Minutes for the instrument and
the flash tube to cool down.
Remove the protection glass carefully by
inserting a small screw driver under it, so that
all four tabs are lifted up.
Danger! High voltage! High temperature! Never remove the protection glass before removing the
rechargeable battery pack first, and before the main body has cooled down.
Do not touch the glass of the flash tube directly; its contamination may considerably shorten the
battery durability. The tube glass is very fragile. To protect your hand from injuries, please use a
cloth when installing or removing it.
Remove the used flash tube by pulling them out carefully. In doing so, use a cloth to protect your hands
from injuries.
Using a cloth, insert the new flash tube by sliding them straight into the appropriate socket. Please make
sure, that the drop-shaped tip of the flash tube is pointed up.
Set the protection glass back into place, by pressing all four tabs into the slots until they snap in.
Clean reflector and clear protection cover are crucial for obtaining optimal illuminance. Please clean
them when replacing the flash tubes, and should the protection glass (Part No.: 20129) have scratches
on it, we would recommend you to purchase a new one.
8.2.2. Replacing the rechargeable battery pack
The normal durability of the rechargeable battery pack is approx. 500 charging cycles. If their operation time
per charging cycle is shortening, the batteries should be replaced. Please consult the tips for battery storage
and maintenance.
8.2.3. Replacing the foam insert
The foam insert inside the rechargeable battery pack helps you to hold the instrument securely in your hand.
Due to the required character of the material, it wears up with use, and thus, when necessary, should be
replaced. New foam inserts (Part No.: 20130) can be purchased from our authorised dealers, or directly from
our website www.alluris.de.
