correct functioning of the buzzer and of the yellow
LED Ω K for continuity.
-
Please replace the batteries as soon as the
buzzer, the yellow LED Ω K for continuity or the
single-pole phase indication 8 do not work any-
more.
-
The LED step indicator 9 works independently of
the battery voltage.
-
Test the voltage tester with familiar voltage
sources, e.g. with a 230 V socket.
-
Do not use the voltage tester, if the voltage indi-
cation and the phase indication are not working
properly!
4.
Checking the absence of voltage of an installa-
tion (fig ure C/ D/ E)
For checking the installation, please test the absence
of voltage by checking the voltage indication and the
single-pole phase indication (the phase indication only
works in an earthed AC voltage mains). The instal-
lation is only free of voltage, if both test circuits (vol-
tage indication and phase indication) are signaling the
absence of voltage.

Apply the two probe tips 2 and 3 to the system
parts to be tested.
-
The level of voltage applied is indicated by means
of the LED step indicator 9 .
-
Alternating voltages (AC) are indicated by the
+ LED and the - LED lighting up simultaneously.
-
Direct voltages (DC) are indicated by the + LED
or the - LED lighting up. The polarity indication J
shows the polarity (+ or -) applied to the positive
test probe 3 .

External conductor test (phase indication)
(figure E)

Fully grasp the handles 5 and 6 , in order to
en sure a capacitive coupling to earth.
-
Apply the probe tip 3 to the system part to be
tested.
During the single-pole external conductor test
(phase in dication), make absolutely sure not to
touch the probe tip 2 and that it remains contact-
less.
-
If the red LED  8 lights up on the display, the
external conductor (phase) of an AC voltage is
applied to this sys tem part.
Note:
The single-pole external conductor test (phase indi-
cation) can be carried out in an earthed mains from
230 V, 50 Hz/ 60 Hz (phase to earth) on. Protective
clothing and insulating condi tions on site might impair
the function.
Attention!
The absence of voltage must be determined additio-
nally by means of a two-pole test.
6.
Continuity test (figure F)
-
The continuity test must be carried out on sys-
tem parts which are free of voltage. If necessary,
capacitors have to be discharged.
-
Apply the two probe tips 2 and 3 to the system
parts to be tested.
-
In case of continuity (R < 100 kΩ), an acoustic
signal is emitted and the yellow LED Ω K for con-
tinuity lights up.
-
If a voltage is applied to the test point, the voltage
tester automatically switches over to the voltage
test function and indicates this function.

Cable break detector (figure G)
-
The cable break detector is intended for the non-
contact localization of cable breaks on exposed
live lines.
-
Fully grasp the display handle 6 and pass the
detector 4 over a live line (e.g. a cable reel or a

chain of lights) from the feeding point (phase) in
direction of the other end of the line.
-
As long as the line is not interrupted, the yellow
LED Ω K for continuity lights.
-
The point of the cable break has been localized as
soon as the yellow LED Ω K goes out.
Note:
The cable break detector can be used in earthed
mains from 230 V, 50 Hz/ 60 Hz (phase to earth) on.
Protective clothing and insulating conditions on site
might impair the function.
8.
Battery replacement (figure H)

Do not apply voltage to the device when the bat-
tery com partment 7 is open!
-
The battery compartment 7 is located in the bot-
tom part of the display handle 6 .
-
Unscrew the screw of the battery compartment 7
until the battery compartment 7 can be pulled off
in downward direction over the connecting cable.
Replace the exhausted batteries by two new bat-
teries of type AAA (LR03). Make sure that the new
batteries are inserted with correct polarity!

Screw the battery compartment 7 back onto the
display handle 6 .

10. General maintenance
Clean the exterior of the device with a clean dry cloth.
If there is contamination or deposits in the area of the
battery or the battery housing, clean these areas as
well by means of a dry cloth.
If the device is stored for a longer period of time,
remove the batteries from the device!

Please lead batteries and also the device at
the end of its useful life to the available return
and collection systems
