points

be

the various
sources are
detailed in the
following
sections.
Copying
from
Records
There are
two
ways
in
which the turntable
can
be connected
to
the
unit:
'1.
Connect
both the
turntable
and
cassette
deck
to
a stereo
amplif
ier
or
receiver and
switch the
program selector switch
of
the
receiver
(amplifier)
to
PHONO.
2.
To
connect the
turntable directly
to
the
cassette
deck pro-
ceed
as
follows:
Turntables
whose
cartridge
leads have
cinch
plugs are con-
nected
to
the LINE lN
jacks (black
=
right
channel
,
white
=
left
channel).
Turntables
whose
cartridge
leads have
DIN
plugs are
connected
to the
REC/PB
jack. For
a player
with
a piezo-electric
(ceramic
or
crystal)
cartridge
this
is
all
that
is
required. For
aturntable
with
a
magnetic
or dynamic

Dual

amplifier
is
required.
ln
this
case,
yöu
will
also
need

Recording
Radio
Broadcasts
lf
the
cassette
deck and a
tuner/receiver are connected
to
a
HiFi
amplif
ier,
you
can
record audio
programs
without
changing
the
cable
connections.
lf
you
should wish
to
connect
a
tuner or
radio
directly to
the
cassette
deck,
this
can
be
done
by way of
the LINE lN
jacks in
the
case
of
audio
cables
with
cinch
plugs (black
=
right
channel
,
white
=
left
channel) and
by way
of
the
jack
REC/PB
in
the
case
of
audio
cables
with
DIN
plugs.
Recording
from Another
Recorder
lf
you
wish
to
record on
your
cassette
deck
from
another tape
iecorder
or
cassette
recorder,
you
can
do this
with
the
audio
cable included
with
the
cassette
deck.
Connect
the unit
from
which
the
recording
is
being made
to the
REC/PB
jack. lf,
however,
you wish
to
make
a
recording
from your
cassette
14
deck
to
another tape deck
or
cassette
deck,
it
may
be
neces-
sary
to
connect
the
dubbing
lead (Dual
part number 2268181
to
the connecting
jack
of
the
recording deck.
When
making connections via
the
cinch
jacks, always connect
the audio
cable
to the LINE
lN
jacks
of
the
recording
unit
and
to the
LINE OUT
jacks
of
the
unit
from which the recording
is
being
made.
Microphone Recordings
The HiFi
stereo
cassette
deck
is
fitted
with
a
jack
for low
and
medium
impedance microphones
with
values
between
200
and
1000 Ohms and
a
6.35 mm
d
(1
14
inch) coaxial
plug.
For
this we
recommend
the
Hi
Fi Electret capacitor microphones
Dual MC
304 and Dual
MC
316.
For
stereo recordings,
a
single stereo
microphone or
two
mono
microphones
of
the
same
type
should
be
used.
For mono
micro-
phone recordings
only the
track
is
recorded
to which
the micro-
phone has
been connected.
ln this
case,
it
is
recommended
that the
unused level
control
be
turned
back
to "0". AlI
other
channel inputs are automatically
deactivated
when
a
micro-
phone
is
connected.
Erasing
The
cassette
deck
erases
all
previous
recording when
a
new
recordlng
is
made.
lf
you
want
to
erase
a
recording
without
making
a
new one,
play
the
cassette
through
with
the controls
set
for
"recording"
but
with
all controls
set
to "0".
All
compact
cassettes
have
two
slots
on
thei
r
rear
edge
which
are
partially
covered
by
plastic
tabs.
You
can
prevent accidental
erasure
of your
own recordings
by
breaking
out the appropriate
ta
bs.
Pre-recorded tapes
bought
from
cassette
dealers
are usually
al-
ready
protected
against
accidental
erasure
by
having
the
tabs
removed.
lf
you
wish
to
record
on
a
tape
protected in this way
it
is
only
necessary
to
close
the
slots temporarily by
means
of
a
small
piece
of
adhesive tape.
Please
note that the additional slots
present
in
Cr02
tapes
must
not
be
closed
by
adhesive
tape.
Technical

Drive
The precision DC
motor
is
fitted
with
an integrated
frequency
generator and modern
control
lC
for
speed
regulation.
A
precision-
made
flat
belt drives
the
capstan and
thereby
plays
its
part in the
overall excellence
of
the
wow
and
flutter
charac-
teristics.
The tape
take-up drive
receives
its torque
via
a
second
belt direct
from
the motor
so
that
disturbances
such
as
differen-
ces
in
cassette
winding
have
no
effect on the
tape
transport.
For
the
fast
wind
facility
a
functionally
realiable gear
drive
is
used.
This
guarantees
trouble-free winding
even
for
older
cas-
settes.
An
electronic
circuit
continuously monitors tape
movement
and
prevents
formation
of
loops in the
tape.
At
the
same
time
it
also provides
the
signals
for
auto
stop.
This
function
is
inde-
pendent
of
the
cassette
or
tape switch
ing foi
I
.
Careful tape location and
precise
azimuth setting
ensure
opti-
mum
treble reproduction
and prevent
level
f
luctuation.
Heads
The
built-in
214-track lvl
+ X
sound head provides
excel
lent
magnetic
properties
for
recording and playback
in conjunction
with
high
resistance
to
wear.
Compact
Cassette
System
Your HiFi
stereo cassette
deck
uses
a
214-track
format.
Four
tracks
are
provided
across
the
full width of
the tape
so
that two
stereo
tracks
are available
in
each
direction
of
play
and
thus
the tape length
is used
for
double stereo playing
time.
Cassettes
recorded
in
stereo
on your
cassette
deck can also
be
played
on mono
cassette recorders.
That
is
to
say,stereo
casset-
tes are
fully
compatible
with
mono
cassettes.
Maintenance and
service
From time
to time it
is
desi
rable
to
clean
the
heads,
capstan,
pressure
rollers and tape
guides.
