7. Information on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
Although dealing with batteries and rechargeable batteries is commonplace in today's modern world, there are numerous dangers and problems involved. In
particular, high energy LiPo/LiIon rechargeable batteries (as opposed to normal NiCd or NiMH rechargeables) require the observation of certain protocols as
there is a risk of explosion or fire.
Please therefore observe the following information and safety instructions for handling batteries and rechargeable batteries.
• Batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries being swallowed by children or pets. If swallowing occurs seek instant
medical attention!
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when coming into contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of fire and explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries, which are intended for this purpose; use suitable
rechargeable battery chargers. Batteries (1.5V) are only intended for single use and must be disposed of appropriately when they are exhausted.
• When inserting batteries/rechargeable batteries or when connecting a rechargeable battery pack observe correct polarity (note plus/+ and minus/-). False
polarity not only damages the remote control transmitter, but also the model airplane and the rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Always exchange the entire set of batteries or rechargeable batteries. Do not mix charged batteries/rechargeable batteries with semi-charged ones. Always
use batteries or rechargeable batteries of the same type and manufacturer.
• Never mix batteries and rechargeable batteries! Use either batteries or rechargeable batteries for the remote control transmitter.
• If the device is not used for a longer period of time (e.g. storage), remove the inserted batteries (or rechargeable batteries) from the remote control to avoid
damage from leaking batteries/rechargeable batteries.
Warning!
Separate the rechargeable flight battery from the model after use. Do not leave the rechargeable flight battery attached when you are not using the
model (e.g. when transporting or storing the model). Otherwise the rechargeable battery can be heavily discharged and thus be destroyed or
become unusable!
• Recharge the rechargeable batteries about every 3 months, as otherwise, they may become heavily discharged through self-discharging, which can make
rechargeable batteries useless.
• The charger supplied with this airplane may only be used to charge the LiPo rechargeable battery provided. Never try to recharge other rechargeable batteries
(NiCd or NiMH) with it! There is a risk of fire and explosion! The charger is not suited to charging the rechargeable batteries in the remote control transmitter!
• Never charge the rechargeable flight batteries directly after use. Always allow the rechargeable flight batteries time to cool down to room/ambient temperature.
• Only charge intact and undamaged rechargeable batteries. If the external insulation of the rechargeable batteries is damaged or if the rechargeable batteries
are deformed or swollen, it should absolutely not be charged. In such a case, there is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Never damage the external shell of the rechargeable flight battery, do not cut the foil covering, do not puncture the rechargeable flight battery with sharp
objects. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Remove the rechargeable flight battery from the model and place it on a fireproof surface for charging. Maintain a safe distance from flammable objects.
• As both the charger and the rechargeable flight battery become warm during the charging process, it is necessary to ensure there is appropriate ventilation.
Never cover the charger or the rechargeable flight battery! Of course, this also applies for all other chargers and rechargeable batteries.
• Never charge rechargeable batteries unsupervised.
• Disconnect the rechargeable flight battery from the charger when the rechargeable battery is fully charged.
• The charger and the rechargeable flight battery may not become damp or wet. There is a danger of fatal electric shock; furthermore, there is danger of fire and
explosion through the rechargeable battery.
• The operation of the charger is only permitted in dry, closed rooms. Do not expose the charger and the rechargeable flight battery to high/low temperatures or
to direct solar radiation.
The operation of the remote control (transmitter) with rechargeable batteries instead of batteries is possible.
However, the low voltage (batteries=1.5 V, rechargeable batteries=1.2 V) and the lower capacity of rechargeable batteries do lead to a decrease of
the operating time. However, normally this does not matter, since the operating time of the transmitter far exceeds that of the model.
If you use batteries in the remote control, we recommend the use of high-quality alkaline batteries.
When using rechargeable batteries there can be a decrease in range.
