Drilling wood
• Use rotary drill mode only.
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum
capacity of this drill (see specifications above).
Drilling metal
• To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer and
centre punch.
• Use rotary drill mode only.
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled, and
are within the maximum capacity of the drill (see specifications above).
• To ensure efficient cutting, and prolong drill bit life, use a suitable
lubricant/cutting fluid.
Chiselling
• Using hammer drill mode, and roto-stop mode, apply pressure to the rear
of the drill, in line with the drill bit.
• Be aware that when chiselling, there is a high risk of chips, and other
waste, being ejected from the work.
Using the three jaw chuck accessory
• The drill is supplied with a three jaw chuck, and SDS adaptor. This allows
conventional drill bits to be used with your SDS drill.
• The SDS adaptor fits into the drill chuck in the same manner as an SDS
drill bit.
• Do not attempt to use hammer mode with the 3 jaw chuck. This could
result in severe damage to the chuck.
• Be aware that due to the nature of the SDS system, it will not be possible
to drill holes to very high standards of accuracy. This is due to the small
amount of "slack" required in the SDS chuck to allow tools to move
easily.
CAUTION
Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more efficient drilling.
If the pressure applied to the drill has a noticeable effect on the speed
of the drill then reduce the pressure. Overloading the drill will reduce its
service life.
As the drill bit penetrates the material being drilled, it may "catch" or
"snag". This can cause the machine to suddenly "kick", to prevent any
possibility of injury always hold the drill securely, use the side handle, and
use sharp drill bits.
Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate use a vice or clamp to
hold the work, always keep two hands on the drill.
Maintenance
Cleaning
• Disconnect the machine from the mains supply before cleaning.
• Keep your machine clean. Always clean dust/particles away, and never
allow ventilation holes to become blocked. Use a soft brush, or dry cloth
to clean the machine, if available blow through the ventilation holes with
clean, dry, compressed air.
Replacement brushes
• Over time, the carbon brushes in the motor will wear away. This wear
process will be accelerated if the machine is used in dusty environments,
or if the machine is overloaded.
• If the brushes have become excessively worn; motor performance may
decrease, the machine may fail to start, or excessive sparking may be
observed.
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an
authorised service centre.
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE), with household waste.
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper
way to dispose of power tools.
