Installing mechanical components

Do not modify the settings of screws and threaded pins if there is no request to

do so in these operating instructions.
Attaching the gripper fingers:
Check whether the gripper jaw blanks can be used (è catalogue specifica

tions, www.festo.com/catalogue).
If possible, use short lightweight gripper fingers.

Observe the maximum permitted values for the following characteristics
S
(è chapter 12 Technical specifications"):
Force Fz
Torques Mx, My and Mz
Gripper finger length
Speed
Avoid damaging the gripper jaws. This could lead to impairment of function
S
and operational reliability.
Press two centring sleeves (dia. 7x4) into the fitting holes of the gripper
S
fingers.
Position the gripper fingers with the centring sleeves on the gripper jaws.
S
Note the tightening torque. Excessive
S
tightening torques during fitting will
damage the gripper mechanism.
Screw three M5 fastening screws into the
S
threaded holes of the gripper jaws
(tightening torque: 5.9 Nm).
Fitting the gripper:
Make sure that the HGPLE has sufficient
S
space for heat dissipation. Narrow mount
ing situations can cause an accumulation
of heat.
Check whether adapter kits are required (è Catalogue specifications,
S
www.festo.com/catalogue).
