CAUTION! Always install the vacuum breaker valve
supplied, taking care to respect the direction of the
arrow indicated in the figure. Do not obstruct the
valve in any way once fitted.
Place a T fitting (not supplied as standard) between the system
outlet and the domestic hot water pipe; on the derivation of the
T fitting, install the vacuum breaker valve which will prevent
depressions inside the system.
The arrow on the valve, which indicates the direction of the
incoming air flow, must point in the opposite direction with
respect to the ventilation plug.
Never install the valve with the arrow in the opposite direction to
what is indicated.
The valve works when installed at any angle; to avoid dripping
we recommend vertical installation with the protective cap facing
down.
Any dripping of the valve does not affect its correct functioning.
The domestic hot water outlet pipe must be connected only after
filling the system to allow for the complete bleeding of the air in it
. It is advisable to insulate the domestic hot water outlet pipe to
reduce heat loss. If hoses are not used, install thermal expansion
compensation elements.
Use the plastic caps with gaskets supplied to cover the fittings
that are not used. Use a torque wrench to tighten the caps taking
care not to exceed the following tightening torque values not to
damage the seal:
• 1/2" cap: 15 Nm
• 1"1/4 cap: 20 Nm
9.2 Sanitary expansion vessel
CAUTION! The installation of an expansion tank
suitable for con drinking water is mandatory.
Particular attention must be paid to the pre-charge pressure of
the expansion vessel; it must be chosen taking into consideration
the hydrostatic pressure increased by a precautionary pressure
value, to ensure that there are no depressions in the system.
The expansion vessel must always be installed in the coldest
branch of the circuit, in this case the sanitary water inlet and must
be placed between solar system and the safety valve.
The correct sizing of the necessary volume of the expansion ves-
sel and the pre-charge pressure must be checked by a speciali-
zed and authorized technician.
9.3 Parallel connection
It is possible to install in parallel more than 2 Stratos DR so to
increase the domestic hot water storaging
while maintaining the complete solar energy system efficiency.
DHW
output
The system inlet and outlet should be placed at the ends of the
group of systems to keep the benefits resulting from this type of
configuration.
9.4 System diagram examples
Always refer to the diagrams on page 25, for the positioning of
the connections.

grated boiler

pre-heating a system with a calorifier
