4. Solar manifolds
The compact solar energy systems made by Cordivari S.r.l.
are designed and manufactured to use the sun's energy in the
best way. Stratos DR solar energy systems allow to produce hot
water for domestic use by transferring the sun's heat directly to
water by direct heat transfer via the storage pipes. The process
of solar radiation absorption is facilitated by the highly selective
pipe coating. This particular coating allows to take full advantage
of solar radiation by absorbing and retaining it in order to heat
the fluid flowing in the pipes while minimising the reflected solar
radiation component. The selected choice of materials and the
special attention given to insulation make Stratos Cordivari solar
energy systems efficient and effective in the use of solar energy,
which is FREE and SAFE.
4.1 Technical features
Cordivari compact solar energy systems consist of the following:

- Cover of tempered solar class (A); impact tested according to
EN12976 the low iron content and low transmittance make the
cover transparent to incoming solar radiation and able to retain
the heat inside the panel.

- A tray (B) made of 6060-T5 weather-resistant anodised
aluminium; its profile, which has been specially designed and
patented by Cordivari, allows to avoid condensate formation in
the manifold, thus ensuring resistance to rain.
- Carpentry (C) in galvanized steel for fixing on flat roof and in
stainless steel for fixing on pitched roof
- Thermal insulation (D) made of 100% polyurethane foam
covered with a thin sheet of aluminium, which is safe and
resistant to high temperatures that may occur inside the solar
manifold.
- AISI 316L stainless steel storage unit (E) to ensure maximum
hygiene.

5. Integrated boiler

The boiler integrated in the Stratos system designed by Cordi-
vari S.r.l. is intended for the production and storage of domestic
hot water through direct thermal exchange by means of a highly
selective coating.
These products are manufactured in compliance with Directive
2014/68/EU (PED) for pressure equipment concerning the fluid
used and the relevant operating conditions..
5.1 Category identification (Directive 2014/68/EU)
The full range of Cordivari Stratos Solar Thermal Systems has
lower values than the threshold values shown below:
• Container for water (group 2) having a vapour pressure value
(at the maximum allowable temperature) which is 0.5 bar lower
than the normal atmospheric pressure (1033 mbar), maximum
working pressure PS > 10 bar, product PS*V > 10,000 bar*L,
PS > 1000 bar
• Water pipes (group 2) with vapour pressure at the maximum
allowable temperature lower than 0.5 bar in addition to/above
normal atmospheric pressure (1033 mbar), maximum working
pressure PS > 10 bar, diameter DN > 200 and product PS*DN
< 5000 bar*mm.
Therefore all boilers in Cordivari Stratos Solar Thermal Sys-
tems, as stated in Art. 4.3 and Annex II Tables 4 and 5 of the
above mentioned Directive, may not be CE marked. However,
as stated in such Directive, Cordivari S.r.l. can guarantee that
they have been properly manufactured (as certified by UNI EN
ISO 9001:2000 Quality System), thus ensuring safe use and the
manufacturer's identification.
6. Supporting structures
The supporting structures of the Stratos solar energy system are
made with hot-galvanised carbon steel sections ensuring tough-
ness and durability; they are provided as disassembled parts to
be bolted together on site.
Mounting systems for pitched roofs and flat roofs are also sup-
plied.
