The Stratos systems are designed and manufac-
tured in accordance with the directives and stand-
ards mentioned above. The warranty and conform-
ity of these systems are valid only in those countries where
such standards are recognised and implemented. In coun-
tries outside Europe or in countries that do not implement
these standards Cordivari assumes no liability for warranty
and conformity.
2.1 Water quality specifications
The values shown below are an extract of Annex I Part C of
the Legislative Decree No. 31 of 02/02/2001 and subsequent
amendments, implementing the European Directive 98/83/EC
relating to the quality of water intended for human consumption:

CAUTION!
If the specifications on water quality deviate from
the parameters shown in the chart, any warranty
will become null and void. In that case, provide an adequate
water purification/ softening unit upstream of the system.
3. System description and operation
3.1 Technical specifications
Stratos Solar Thermal Systems have been developed to heat
water for domestic purposes using solar energy in areas not sub-
ject to freezing temperatures.
If a Stratos system is to be installed in a location poten-
tially subject to temperatures below 0° C (and in any
case not lower than -5° C) we recommend to provide
the system with the "Auxiliary electric antifreeze kit for the Stra-
tos system"(Part number 5240000000060), which can protect
the system from damage due to any freezing in the domestic
water circuit.

In case of sufficient radiation, the structure of the system and its
components allows for a heat exchange by direct heat transfer
between the collector and the boiler. This enables solar energy to
be directly transferred to the water contained in the boiler without
the need for any auxiliary energy sources. Domestic water enters
the lower part of the system, it is heated in the storage unit and
exits from the upper part. The storage unit structure ensures that
incoming water is never mixed with outgoing water.
Always refer to the diagrams on page 25, for the positioning of
the connections.
