Safety regulations

Safety regulations
The rooftop air-conditioning unit has been designed in accordance with
the EC guidelines and continues to be manufactured according to the
same even today. If mounted and operated according to the assembling,
operating and service instructions the equipment is safe for operation.
Disregarding the evacuation and charging instructions and directions re-
sults in cancellation of liability on the part of Spheros.
In principle, the general regulations for prevention of accidents must be
followed. Other safety precautions beyond the scope of the "General
Safety Regulations" are listed in the following.
General safety regulations
Maintenance work on the air-conditioning unit must only be carried out
by trained personnel.
Servicing personnel must familiarize themselves with the operating and
service instructions concerning the equipment, tools and accessories
being used together with the safety regulations specified by the manu-
facturer for evacuation and charging air-conditioning machines.

Handling the refrigerants

Caution
When working on air-conditioning machines the EN 378 standard must
be followed. For every refrigerant there are safety data sheets or mate-
rial data sheets (available with the manufacturer) and the general
instructions provided by the trade association of chemical industries.

REVO Evacuation and Charging Instructions
For safe and appropriate use of refrigerants specific regulations are
applicable which must be adhered to:
– When working with refrigerants compulsorily wear safety glasses. If
accidentally any refrigerant fluids fall into the eyes severe damage
due to frosting may occur. Eyes must be immediately rinsed with
plenty of water and a physician must be consulted.
– When handling refrigerants compulsorily wear hand gloves. Avoid
skin contact with refrigerants. Protect hands against frost bite
(leaking R 134a evaporates at -26.5°C) and against leaching the skin
protective layer (refrigerants dissolve fatty substances). If the liquid
comes into contact with skin rinse immediately with plenty of water
and see a doctor.
Warning!
– Possible danger of asphyxiation if refrigerants escape into the at-
mosphere. Refrigerants are heavier than air. Even at approx. 12 vol.-
% in the air oxygen can become less for breathing and lead to uncon-
sciousness and impairment of cardiac circulation due to stress and
deficient oxygen. This can be fatal!
– Smoking is strictly forbidden when handling refrigerants. A live ciga-
rette can disintegrate the refrigerant giving rise to toxic substances.
– Before any welding and soldering operations on the air-conditioning
equipment the refrigerant must suctioned out and the residues blown
out with Nitrogen. The effect of heat results in disintegrated products
of the refrigerant which are not only hazardous to health, but can also
cause corrosion.
Danger to human life and
health!
