do not attempt to move it when it is in use.
• Use appropriate protection when you need to touch hot
parts.
• Keep flammable materials, flammable liquids and dissoluble
objects at a safe distance from the appliance when it is in use.
• WARNING! Do not use denatured alcohol, gasoline or other
flammable liquids to light or relight the appliance! You must
only use firelighters that comply with
EN 1860-3!
• WARNING! Do not start barbecuing until the charcoal has
developed a layer of ash. This usually takes around 15
minutes (Fig. 3c)
• Do not leave the barbecue unattended when in use.
• Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby when you use
the appliance, especially on very hot days and
in dry environments.
• Do not use indoors! Only use the appliance outside. If you

ASSEMBLING THE APPLIANCE
4.1. Safety instructions
• Remove all of the packaging.
• Do not make modifications to the appliance when
assembling. You must not make changes to any of the parts
of the appliance; this is very dangerous.
• Always follow the assembly instructions carefully.
• The user is responsible for the correct assembly of the
appliance. Damage caused by incorrect assembly is not
covered by the warranty.
4.2. To assemble the appliance
You need 4 AA batteries, which are not supplied.
The most important steps of this task are illustrated in
Fig. 1 on page 46.
The appliance is largely pre-assembled.
1. Open the battery compartment and insert 4 AA batteries.
The polarity symbols (+ and -) indicate the correct position
of the batteries.
2. Close the battery compartment.
5.
PREPARING THE APPLIANCE FOR USE
You need charcoal, firelighters (that meet EN1860-3) and a
long match.
5.1. Which type of charcoal should I use?
Always light your appliance with traditional charcoal, never
with briquettes. When your appliance is lit, you can add
briquettes.
Use good quality charcoal to light the appliance, preferably
charcoal that complies with EN 1860-2. Good-quality charcoal
consists of shiny pieces and does not give off much dust.
Close the bag of charcoal properly before storing it.
Always store charcoal in a dry location,
do not store charcoal in a basement.
The charcoal container can be filled with max. 200g of
charcoal. Overfilling the bowl may cause serious
damage to your barbecue due to the extreme heat.
Do not burn wood in your barbecue because the
temperature will get too high and damage your
barbecue.
5.2. Step 1: Inserting the charcoal.
The most important steps of this task are illustrated in
Figures 2 to 5 on page 46. Proceed as follows:
1. Place the bowl in the appliance (Fig. 2).
2. Insert the base for the charcoal container in the charcoal
container (Fig. 3).
This very important step ensures your barbecue works
correctly and safely. Skipping this step may result in
severe material damage.
3. We recommend using max. 150g charcoal and 3 firelighter
cubes when lighting the appliance (Fig. 4).
4. Insert the charcoal container into the bowl (Fig. 5).
