Original Operating Instructions UNIDRIVE
15.2 Attachment of the Lifting Gear and the Connectors of the Guided-
type Fall Arrester
The attachment of the connectors must not be carried out in areas where there is the risk of falling. As
soon as the activity is to be carried out on an open manhole or access opening, a fall arrest system in
accordance with EN 363, consisting of a full body harness in accordance with EN 361, connecting
elements in accordance with EN 354 and a fall damping component in accordance with EN 355, must
be used.
The lifting gear is attached to the anchor point. In doing so, it must be ensured that no knots or kinks
are formed in the lifting gear. The lifting gear must hang straight and free, otherwise and the use of the
UNIDRIVE without risk is not possible.
The connectors of the guided-type fall arrester are likewise attached to the anchor point intended for
this with the aid of a connecting element. The fall arrester is then latched to the rear eyelet of the full
body harness. In doing so it must be ensured that the connecting element is not guided over a sharp
edge. In operation, the protective connecting element must always be taut so that the guided-type fall
arrester can be arrested at all times in the event of overspeed.
15.3 Putting on the Full Body Harness
In a safe place, the full body harness in accordance with EN 361 is put on according to its operating
instructions and the belt straps are pulled tight. After a load test with own body weight all the belt
straps are adjusted again.
Then the seat cushion (if available) can be put on and be connected with the aid of the connecting
elements to the two eyelets in the chest area and the UNIDRIVE descender device with rescue lifting
function. (Use exclusively eyelets (marked with "A"))
15.4 Connection with the Protective Connecting Element
For additional safety during the use of access equipment the guided-type fall arrester is now attached
to the rear eyelet of the full body harness. The connecting element is equipped with an automatic clos-
ing mechanism and an automatic locking mechanism.
Before starting work, a functional check of the guided-type fall arrester must be carried out without fail.
15.5 Downwards Movement
Before starting the downwards movement it must be ensured that the lifting gear above the user is
tightly stretched.
