General Warning Information

The equipment must only be used within the specified operating conditions and for its intended
purpose.
The use of the UNIDRIVE must only be undertaken by technically trained persons. The trained
personnel must be at least 18 years of age, physically and mentally fit and be authorized for the
work by the employer.
The operating personnel are obliged to thoroughly and carefully read and understand these oper-
ating instructions before commissioning the equipment.
Before starting work, a plan in which all possible emergency situations during the work are taken
into account must be prepared for rescue actions.
The use is strictly forbidden when under the influence of medication, alcohol or drugs as well as in
the event of cardiovascular problems or feelings of dizziness.
In addition to the information listed here, the current accident prevention regulations must be ob-
served.
The equipment must be inspected and serviced by the manufacturer or one of his authorized
agents every 12 months.
Before starting work, the equipment must be checked for completeness and safe condition. The
checks are necessary for the safety of the user and the effectiveness and durability of the equip-
ment. To this belong:
Visual and functional check of the full body harness,
Functional check of the descender device
Visual check of the lifting gear
Visual check of the anchor point
During the visual and functional checks, attention should be paid to signs of corrosion, abrasion,
broken strands or to similar wear characteristics and to the legibility of the product marking.
For safety reasons, the equipment must be taken out of use immediately if there are doubts con-
cerning the safe use of the equipment or the equipment has been stressed by a fall. The equip-
ment must only be used again after a qualified person has given his consent in writing.
The entire equipment must not come into contact with heat sources. This also applies to flying
sparks during grinding work or similar.
It is essential for safety that any free fall (for example, through slack rope formation) is prevented.
In addition, the vertical travel path must be free of all obstacles.
