Assembly and operating instructions
LS 200 (wall-mounting)/
TS 160 (free-standing)
Dear Customer,
Please read the following information carefully before
using the appliance for the first time for your own
safety and to ensure correct use.

SAFETY INFORMATION:

• The equipment may only be used as described
in the operating instructions!
• Only connect the appliance TS 160 to a properly
installed socket-outlet with earthing contact. This
applies similarly to outdoor use of the appliance.
The installation of a residual-current-operated pro-
tective device with a rated tripping current of maxi-
mum 30mA will offer additional protection and
should be installed by a qualified electrician. (Only
TS 160)
• Only connect the appliance to a.c. mains as speci-
fied on the rating plate.
• Never touch live parts! Danger to life!
• Never operate the appliance with wet hands!
Danger to life!
• The unit must be mounted such that the control
elements cannot be touched by persons who are in
bath, shower, or any other water-filled receptacle.
• The appliance is splash proof and may be used in
bathrooms, however, not in the immediate vicinity
of baths, showers, water connections, washbasins
or swimming pools (Fig. 2).
• Never use the appliance if the appliance or cord is
damaged. Risk of injury!
• Do not use appliance without stand (including
weight)! (Only TS 160)
• If any part of the mains cable proves to be defec-
tive or if the equipment suffers substantial dam-
ages which result in the exposure of electrical
parts, then you should immediately disconnect the
equipment from the power supply system and con-
tact your specialized dealer or the customer ser-
vice representative for Dimplex equipment!
• Do not store or use any flammable materials or
sprays in the vicinity of the appliance when the
appliance is in use. Fire hazard!
• Do not use the appliance in flammable atmos-
pheres (e.g. in the vicinity of combustible gases or
spray cans)! Explosion and fire hazard!!
• Important! Do not insert any foreign objects into
the appliance openings!
Risk of injury (electric shock) and damage to the
appliance!
• Attention! The front grille becomes very hot when
the appliance is in use! Place the appliance so that
it cannot be touched by accident. Risk of burns!
• Do not place any items of clothing, hand towels or
similar over the grille to dry. Risk of overheating
and fire hazard!
• The appliance is not suitable for connection to per-
manent cables. (Only TS 160)
• The LS 200 equipment is exclusively designed for
connection to permanent installation wiring!
• The swivel bracket must not be adjusted while the
appliance is in use! Risk of burns! Allow the appli-
ance to cool down before adjusting the bracket
(see illustration 5/10).
• Do not use any control devices, temperature con-
trollers or programming devices such as timers or
similar that are capable of switching on the appli-
ance automatically. A fire hazard exists if appli-
ances are incorrectly installed or covered
(only TS 160).
• The appliance is not intended for use by young
children or infirm persons without supervision!
Young children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance!
• The fire guard does not offer adequate protection
for small children and the infirm!
• The socket-outlet must be accessible at all times
to enable the mains plug to be disconnected as
quickly as possible (only TS 160)!
• The appliance is not suitable for animal breeding
purposes!

• These instructions for use belong to the appliance
and must be kept in a safe place. When changing
owners, these instructions must be surrendered to
the new owner!
• The appliance must be allowed to cool down
before being carried and stored! (Only TS 160)
Packaging:
• After unpacking the appliance, check the same for
transport damage and the contents for complete-
ness! Please contact your specialized dealer or
the customer service representative for Dimplex
equipment, if there are any defects in the equip-
ment or if the delivery is incomplete!
• Do not discard the original box! It can be used for
storage and dispatch to avoid transport damage!
• Dispose of the packaging material in a proper
manner! Plastic bags should be kept away from
children!
• If transport devices are provided for the heating
elements, these must be removed prior to
installation and operation!
Location:
• The LS 200 radiating element is designed only for
wall-type operation with permanent connection
and must be installed at least 1.8 m above the
ground!
• The appliance should only be used mounted hori-
zontally on a wall. The appliance must not be
mounted on the ceiling (only LS 200)
• A minimum distance of 70 cm must be maintained
between the front grille and flammable items (e.g.
curtains), walls and other structures.
• The appliance must not be mounted directly on
flammable materials (no wood or similar) (only LS
200)
• The different types of equipment are all splash-
proof, and may be used in bathrooms, but not in
direct proximity to bath tubs, showers, water
pipes, wash basins or swimming pools (see
Illustration 2)!
• The equipment must be mounted in such a way
that the control elements cannot be touched by
persons who are in the bath tub, shower or in a
water-filled container!
• The TS 160 equipment should not be placed on an
unstable surface to avoid any possible overturning!
• Do not expose the appliance to rain or other mois-
ture!
• Only store the appliance in the home!
• The equipment should never be placed nor mount-
ed directly under a wall socket!
• As the appliance radiates heat, no objects such as
furniture should be placed between the appliance
and the person using the appliance!
Power cord (Only TS 160):
• Position the power cord so that it does not pose a
tripping hazard or can be stepped on! Use only
the approved extension cables which conform to
the power consumption of the equipment, e.g.
those with the VDE-approval seal.
• The power cord must not come into contact with
hot appliance parts!
• Never pull the plug out of the socket at the cord!
Never move the appliance by pulling at the cord or
use the cord for carrying purposes!
• Do not coil the cord around the appliance! Do not
use the appliance with the cord coiled!
• Do not crush the cord or drag it over sharp edges
or place it over heated hotplates or naked flames!
Installation:
• The appliance should be fitted and connected by a
qualified electrician.
• Prior to starting any electrical work, the voltage
must be switched off to make sure that the wiring
is dead!
• For those equipment with permanent connection,
there must be a universal multipole circuit breaker
in the permanent electrical wiring, and this should
be equipped with a minimum of 3 mm contact
opening, (only LS 200).

Electrical connection LS 200:
• The connecting cable must be connected to the
terminal appropriate to the markings L, N and
(see illustration 4). For safety reasons, the protec-
tive conductor must be connected.
• For installation of the appliance, care must be
taken not to damage concealed cables. Proceed
with caution when drilling holes!
Only switch on the appliance when installation is
complete.
Switching on for the first time:
• After switching on the appliance for the first time
and following extended periods on non-use, the
appliance may smell for a short time.
• Upon switching on the equipment, a slight vibra-
tion of the heating element may occur. This is nor-
mal and will cease after a few seconds. This has
no influence on the life and quality of the appli-
ance.
Operation:
• To tilt the free-standing appliance, push the knob
and set to the required tilt angle. Tilting range
0...20 degrees (only TS 160)
Cleaning:
• First switch off the appliance and disconnect the
plug from the socket! (only TS 160)
• First, disconnect the equipment from the power
supply system (LS 200: switch off the fuse unit)!
• After the appliance has cooled down, the housing
can be wiped dry.
• Do not touch the quartz rods with your fingers,
since stains could build up from such a contact.
• The reflector should be cleaned regularly from out-
side with a brush.
• Do not use any abrasive or caustic cleaning
agents!
• Never immerse the appliance in water! Danger
to life!
Disposal:
• Old appliances must be disposed of in a proper
manner!

AFTER-SALES SERVICE

• All repairs must be referred to authorised person-
nel! Therefore, you should contact your special-
ized dealer or the customer service representative
for Dimplex equipment. The E-number and the FD-
number of the equipment are needed for the order
processing. These particulars may be found on the
type plate.
Important! Any tampering with the appliance will
invalidate the warranty.
• Repairs carried out improperly and by unqualified
persons may have serious consequences for the
user!
