with the dipstick positioned, but not screwed,
in the filler neck.
3.Reposition the oil cap and tighten appropriately.
WARNING: Wipe off any spilled fuel and oil before
starting the engine.
STARTING THE UNIT
WARNING: Before starting the engine, make sure
both the machine and you are on stable ground.
NOTE: In case of cold start it is necessary to use the
primer bulb (where applicable) (Fig. 7.20) by press-
ing it one to four times, pumping the fuel directly
from the carburetor to the cylinder.
1. Pull the brake lever back and hold it against
the handle (Fig. 10)
2.Keep the clutch lever released at all times. This
will prevent the mower from moving forward
when you operate the starter (Fig. 11).
3.With the starter handle in its support, pull
the starter grip (Fig. 1.13) slowly with your
right hand until you start to feel resis-
tance. Then pull energetically. The engine
should start after two to five pulls at most.
WARNING: To avoid breaking the starter rope,
do not pull the whole length of it or let it slide
along the edge of the cable guide hole. Re-
lease the starter gradually, to avoid letting it
fly back uncontrollably.
NOTE: Once warm, the engine should start on the
first pull.
For maximum performance and reliability, allow the
engine to warm up before operating. Run the engine
for two to three minutes at idle speed.
OPERATING THE UNIT
Blade will be in action as soon as the engine is start-
ed. While the machine is working maintain the brake
handle in working position (Fig.10). The engine will
stop as soon as you release the brake handle.
Clutch lever
Push the clutch level (Fig. 1.1) forward and hold it
against the handlebar to propel the lawn mower
forward. Release the clutch to stop the mower's
forward movement.
WARNING: Always release the clutch lever when at-
tempting to start the engine (Fig. 11). If the clutch is
engaged, the mower will move forward.
Operate the clutch lever with a quick and com-
plete motion, so that the clutch is either fully en-
gaged or fully released. This will help to extend
the service life of the clutch mechanism.
Speed lever
The lawn mower is equipped with a speed lever
(Fig. 16.33) for adjusting the self-propelled speed
(applicable only to variable speed model). The
drive speed can be changed by placing the speed
lever forwards and backwards in available inter-
mediate positions.
STOPPING THE UNIT
1. Release the clutch lever.
2. Allow the engine to cool down by running in
idle for a few seconds.
3. Release the brake level from your grip to stop
the engine.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
WARNING: Never do maintenance or cleaning with
the unit running. Always work on a cool unit.
WARNING: Before cleaning or doing maintenance
work, disconnect the spark plug cap and read the
relevant instructions.

Any adjustments or maintenance operations not de-
scribed in this manual must be carried out by your Deal-
er or a specialized Service Centre with the necessary

done correctly maintaining the machine's original safe-
ty level. Any operations performed in unauthorized
centers or by unqualified persons will totally invalidate
the Warranty and all obligations and responsibilities of
the Manufacturer.

is always in safe working condition. Routine mainte-
nance is essential for safety and for maintaining a
high-performance level.

damaged parts. Faulty or worn-out parts must al-
ways be replaced and not repaired. Only use original
spare parts.
