3.2 Product description

3.2.1 EW-S controller
The EW system is operated through the
EW-S controller. The permanently updated
system data is also displayed here.
The buttons can be used, for example, to set
date, time, summer/winter operation, etc. In
summer operation, the switch-on temperature
of the brine circulation pump can also be set
based on the outside air temperature
(18 to 26 °C).
The EW-S controller monitors and controls
the operation of the EW system in the
background. At the same time, the system
data is recorded and evaluated.
3.2.2 Function
Temperature sensor [3] ahead of the EW-K
225 measures the outside air temperature;
Temperature sensor [10] after the EW-K 225
measures the preheated outside air tempe-
rature.
The pump starts up if the temperatures at the
sensor [3] and [10] drops below a value limit.
The brine (glycol-water mixture) is pumped
into the ground through the ducts [6] and [7].
These are laid at a frost-free depth of
between 1.2 and 1.5 metres.
In the 1st step, the heat energy from the ground
is transferred to the brine in the ground collectors.
In the 2nd step, the heat energy from the
brine is transferred to the outside air that is
fed into the room air system, in the EW-K
225. The air that is preheated in this way has
a temperature above 0°C.
On hot days, the EW-K 225 is also used to
cool the outside air. In the summer months,
the ground is cooler than the outside air, so
that heat is exchanged between the outside
air and the brine. This cools the outside air.
A ventilation unit with EW brine earth heat
exchanger is not an air-conditioning unit.
i
Notes
● The pump switches on at regular intervals,
to avoid corrosion damage.
● Outside air is filtered before being
transferred to the room air system.
● There are two operating modes for winter
operation ( Chapter 10.7.1)
● WRG mode in the case of frost-free
outside air
● WP mode with +2 °C outside air
● The condensation run-off must run into a
siphon as otherwise unwanted air is sucked
into the unit through the drain tube.
The EW-K 225 housing is insulated to
prevent vapour diffusion.
