Charging the battery
We recommend that the battery is charged after each shift.
The vehicle and charging appliance must be switched off before
the plug is removed from the socket outlet. When charging, the
surface of the battery cells must be exposed so as to provide suffi-
cient ventilation. No metallic objects may be placed on the batter-
ies.
Return the key switch to position "off".
The pallet trucks are equipped with a specific charger to charge
the battery.
Before charging, make sure no metal objects on the battery and check if there is any obvious fault on
joints of all the cables and the plugs. All safety instructions, including supply rules and charging prepara-
tion procedures, should be strictly observed.
Connect the battery charger to a 230 V mains supply. The charging sequence starts automatically.
Fully automatic and smart charger is applied for the pallet truck.
When the plug on connecting plate of the truck is pulled out and connected to the power, the charger in-
dicator lights in red.
The charger will adjust the current according to residual capacity of the battery automatically, which en-
sures the course of charge in the best state.
After charging the battery, the charger indicator lights green and the charging course stops with power
off automatically.
The charging course generally lasts 7-8 hours.
It is prohibited to charge the battery before it is used up. Otherwise, the battery could be damaged.
During the charging course of battery, all water feeding cock caps of each battery cell must be opened
to maintain air circulation conditions.

General Rules and Advice for Operation
Above all, the battery manufacturer's directions and instructions are applicable.
Modern sulphuric acid batteries require little maintenance and are easy to maintain.
The working life of the battery depends mainly on the manner of application and maintenance.
To ensure longest possible working life, observe the following rules:
6.5.1 Safety instructions
Do not retain discharged batteries. Recharge as soon as possible.
Avoid heavy discharge of more of 80% of nominal capacity.
The acidity should not be lower than 1,13kg/l
Heavy discharges reduce capacity and working life.
The most favourable operating temperature is between + 25°C and + 55°C.
Do not exceed the electrolyte temperature of + 55°C.
Expect a temperature increase of approx. 10°C up to 12°Cduring charging.
Interrupt charging before having exceeded the temperature limit of 55°C.
At temperatures of more than 40°C more distilled water will evaporate. Control the acid level more often.
Heavy duty and winter temperatures require a daily charging of the battery, even if less than 80% of the
nominal capacity have been consumed.
Always keep the battery clean and dry and protect against soiling.
Thoroughly grease the pole terminals (pole screws)
Only refill distilled water according to DIN 43530.
For charging, only use charging devices which are suited for the battery size (capacity) and charging
times.
Before charging, remove the battery covers respectively open the battery storage cap.
The ventilation holes of the fillers must be free to allow battery gasses to escape.
Always connect the charging device with correct poles, i.e. plus to plus, minus to minus.
Repairs on the battery and charging devices should only be executed by trained, competent personnel.
After having completed the charging process the pallet truck has to remain in a ventilated room until all
gasses have safely escaped. Avoid handling the electric installation during charging and in the subse-
quent non-working time.
