Glue the Velcro tape in the fuselage and to the servo plate, and stick the mating
pieces of tape to the flight battery and the receiver. Connect the following items to the
receiver: speed controller, two extension leads (Order No. 3935.11) for the ailerons,
the elevator servo and the rudder servo. Run the aerial out of the fuselage, deploy it
towards the tail, and press the receiver down onto the Velcro tape stuck to the servo
plate. Set the model's Centre of Gravity correctly by adjusting the position of the flight
battery, then press the battery onto the Velcro tape in the fuselage.
Decals
Cut out the name placards from the decal sheet, and apply them to the model in the
arrangement shown in the kit box illustration.
Assembling the SMARAGD
Fix the flight battery to the bottom of the fuselage using the Velcro tape already
installed.
Balance the model as stated below, and draw a pencil mark to indicate the position of
the flight pack on the mounting plate. Always check that the transmitter throttle
control is at the "Off" position before connecting the flight pack to the speed
controller.
[Seite 17]
We recommend that you permanently connect 100 mm extension leads to receiver
output sockets 2 and 5, so that the aileron servos can be connected separately.
Connect the aileron servos to the extension leads, and fit the wing on the fuselage.
Don't over-tighten the wing retainer screws; tighten them just to the point where the
wing is firmly fixed, and cannot shift.
Place the canopy on the fuselage with the projecting wire end inside the fuselage
nose, then push it forward, trapping the wire retainer under the fuselage lip. Finally
slide it back into its final position.
Balancing the SMARAGD
The completely equipped model, with the flight battery installed, should balance level
at a point about 80 – 85 mm aft of the wing root leading edge, ideally with the nose
inclined slightly down. If necessary, adjust the position of the flight battery, or glue
ballast in the nose or tail, until the model balances at the stated point. Before flying
the aircraft, set the transmitter trims to centre and ensure that all the control surfaces
are exactly at neutral.
