balsa strip packing pieces to protect the fuselage surfaces. Leave the glue to set
hard before removing the clamps.
Allow the epoxy to cure fully, then mark a centreline on the tail post. Cut the patent
hinges in half, and cut slots on the centreline of the fin and the rudder to accept them.
Glue the half-hinges in the slots in the fin using cyano, allow the glue to cure, then
push the projecting hinges into the slots in the tail post before securing them with
drops of cyano.
Cut down the rudder and elevator horns as shown in the picture, and trim them to
final shape. Slide the steel rudder pushrod into the snake outer sleeve, mark the
correct position of the horn on the rudder, and drill a 3 mm Ø blind hole at the marked
point.
Insert the horn, align it with the pushrod, and mark the shape of the horn base. Cut
away the film under the horn base, cutting slightly inside the marked line, and peel off
the covering film. Form a Z-bend in the end of the pushrod using the Z-bend pliers,
Order No. 5732.

Slip the rudder pushrod into the snake outer sleeve from the tail end, and pass it
through the swivel pushrod connector mounted on the rudder servo. Fit the horn on
the pre-formed pushrod end, then glue the horn in the hole in the rudder using cyano
or UHU hart. Allow the glue to set hard, then switch on the radio control system once
more, set the rudder servo to centre, hold the rudder at neutral, and finally tighten the
grubscrew in the swivel pushrod connector. Apply a drop of UHU schraubensicher
(thread-lock fluid) to the grubscrew to prevent it working loose, then snip off the
excess pushrod length.
Tailplane
The elevator should be attached to the tailplane using a full-length strip of adhesive
hinge tape as described for the ailerons, taking care to position the hinge pivot axis
along the centre of the tape. Hold the elevator at the 'full-down' position when
applying the hinge tape. Press the tape down firmly, then apply three pieces of tape
about 100 mm long on the underside of the hinge line to secure the elevator hinge:
one at each end and one in the centre. The important point is that the adhesive faces
of the tape should meet in the centre.
Glue a piece of 320-grit abrasive paper, Order No. 700.1, to the tailplane saddle to
prevent the tailplane swivelling. Use the tip of a hot soldering iron to melt the covering
