When the ERI point is reached, the following parameters are
switched to Nominal mode (listed in the table of programmable
parameters) until the end of the device's life:
Mode
Basic rate
Rate hysteresis
Rate response mode
Smoothing
Other parameters remain as programmed.
When the ERI point is reached and under following conditions: VVI,
-1
70 min
, 0.4 ms, 500 Ohms, operation remaining before end of life is
approximately:
9.9 months with 2.5 V programming
7.6 months with 3.5 V programming
5.9 months with 5 V programming
4.1 months with 7.5 V programming
The pacing amplitudes actually available at ERI are:
2.4 V with 2.5 V programming
3.45 V with 3.5 V programming
4.5 V with 5 V programming
6 V with 7.5 V programming
8.3. EXPLANT
The pacemaker should be explanted in the following cases:
End of life
Confirmed malfunction
Cremation of the patient (the pacemaker may explode if placed in
an incinerator)
Patient death: for environmental reasons, the local regulation may
require the explantation of the devices containing a battery supply.
