5 Preparation for use
INFORMATION
► Check the exact parallel alignment of the system joints before deliver
ing the orthosis.
INFORMATION
In order to facilitate the parallel alignment of the system joints, each pair of
system joints is supplied with an adjustment aid. The adjustment aid con
sists of 2 screws, 1 parallel truing tube and, depending on the size of the
system joints, 2 adapter pieces.
Due to varying alignment parameters, such as the generated forefoot lever
age or the flexion position of the orthosis, the system knee joints are subjec
ted to increased strain.
Assembling the lock
The lock is pre-assembled in the orthosis joint upon delivery. The 29PK1* set
is required to replace the lock. Insertion aids are attached to the locks so
that trying them out is easier.
1) Insert the bearing bushings (10) into the upper joint section (7).
2) Slide the lower joint section (14) into the upper joint section (7) and
secure it with the joint bolt (11), the joint nut with internal thread (13) and
the cap screw (12).
3) Insert the lock (6) in size 3 into the lock channel of the joint up to the
stop.
4) Check the play of the joint.
INFORMATION: If the joint has play or the lock cannot be inserted
up to the stop, exchange the lock for a different size (1, 2, 4 or 5).
5) Break the chosen lock off the insertion aid.
6) Screw the threaded sleeve (5) onto the unlock cable (3).
7) Insert the unlock cable (3) with threaded sleeve (5) into the chosen
lock (6).
8) Guide the unlock cable (3) through the compression spring (4) and lock
cover (2).
9) Insert the lock (6) and the compression spring (4) with the unlock
cable (3) into the lock channel.
10) Attach the lock cover (2) in the upper joint section (7) with the counter
sunk head screw (1).
