Servo orientation in the wing: output shafts facing outboard (towards the tips)
Connect the pushrods to the horns and the output arms. Adjust the servo positions to
centre the ailerons, and check that the pushrods run parallel to the wing ribs. When
you are satisfied, glue the servos in the wing using a few drops of cyano.
Trim the servo well covers to the correct shape, cut them at an angle as shown from
the wing trailing edge to the horn, and tape them in place.
Glue the wing retaining dowel in the hole in the root leading edge using UHU coll
(white glue).
Countersink the reinforcing plate on the wing to accept the head of the M4 retaining
screw.
The tailplane
The elevators are attached to the fixed tail panels using two full-length strips of hinge
tape applied on the top surface, centred on the hinge axis. Hold the elevators at the
"full-down" position when applying the hinge tape. Fold the control surfaces up and
over, then apply two additional strips of tape (approx. 40 mm long) on the underside
to secure the hinge; fit these strips at either end of the elevators. Ensure that the
adhesive layer of the two tape strips meets in the centre.
The two tailplane panels have to be glued together at an included angle of about
110° . ensure that the two triangular strips on the underside of the tailplane roots form
a flat gluing surface for attachment to the fuselage. Allow the glue to cure fully.
Locate the tailplane saddle at the tail end of the fuselage, sand it thoroughly, and
glue the V-tail assembly to it using UHU plus (epoxy).
Important: it is absolutely essential that the centreline of the fuselage lines up
correctly with the centre of the tailplane assembly, and that the tailplane is not twisted
relative to the fuselage. If possible, check that the longitudinal dihedral is 1° . Tape
the tailplane assembly to the fuselage in this position, and allow the epoxy to cure
fully.
Fuselage
Sand the inside of the fuselage in the area where the servo plate is to be fitted. Trim
the servo plate to fit snugly. Note that the servo aperture must be on the right-hand
side; the height at this point must be 21 mm, and the rear edge of the servo plate
should be in line with the rear edge of the fuselage opening. Tack the servo plate in
place with a little cyano, then apply a fillet of UHU plus along the joints.
Cut down the servo output arm as required, drill out the linkage hole using a 2 mm Ø
bit, and mount the swivel pushrod connector in the hole using an M2 nut. Note that
the connector must be free to swivel smoothly.
