Glow Plug Installation
When installing a new glow plug, insert it carefully into the head and screw it in very carefully,
making sure it is not cross-threaded. Tighten firmly. Be sure to clean the area around the
glow plug to prevent dirt from falling into the engine.
Carburetor Diffuser (CRF81322) Installation
A 5.5mm conical bore diffuser comes pre-installed on the X312T carburetor.
An optional large size conical bore diffuser (CRF81358) is available separately.
Different power bands can be created using different inserts.
Head Gasket (CRF81310)
The engine has been assembled with 0.1mm and 0.2mm head gaskets (0.3mm total).
Depending on altitude, atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, and nitro content,
adjustments may be required.
• During break-in, when glow plugs fail early, or when high nitromethane content fuel is used,
use both gaskets or add an additional 0.1mm gasket (lowers compression).
Additional gaskets are available separately.
• When fuel containing less nitromethane is used, try removing the 0.1mm
gasket (increases compression).
Carburetor Adjustments
The X312T carburetor has been factory adjusted for easy operation. Adjustment can vary
greatly depending upon fuel type, clutch adjustment, vehicle weight, vehicle type, gear ratio,
glow plug, atmospheric pressure, temperature, and type of track.
• The main (high-speed) needle: (CRF81318):
Adjusts the quantity of fuel when the throttle is open at 100%.
• The spray nozzle: (CRF81321):
Do not adjust. It has been factory adjusted
for maximum performance.
• The metering (low-speed) needle: (CRF81315)
Adjusts the quantity of fuel from idle to 50% throttle. Used to obtain
proper idle speed and smooth acceleration to mid speed.
• The slide valve stop screw: (CRF81314)
Adjusts the position of the slide valve at idle.
