Retrofitting inputs/outputs
This section describes how to retrofit the modules for the optional inputs and outputs (expansion slot 1
to 3) on digital input/output module 705031.
CAUTION!
Incorrect handling may result in damage or malfunctions.
This compromises the function of the module or of the system as a whole.
Only qualified personnel are permitted to carry out module retrofits. The country-specific require-
ments regarding changes to an electrical device must be observed. Before a retrofit, the system must
be shut down and isolated from the power supply. Prior to using the retrofitted inputs or outputs, en-
sure that these have been configured correctly.
CAUTION!
Modules may be damaged by electrostatic discharge.
This compromises the function of the module or of the system as a whole.
Modules may only be retrofitted at a grounded workstation and in compliance with the relevant safety
measures.
Identifying the module
The module can be identified using the part no. on the packaging. The modules also differ in the color of
the pin headers (see table).
Module
5 digital inputs (black)
5 digital outputs (gray)
NOTE!
For modules that have already been fitted at the factory, the type designation on the nameplate of the
module insert indicates the module type and the expansion slot.
If required, information regarding this can be found in the "Identifying the device version" chapter in op-
erating manual 70503100T90... or installation instructions 70503100T94... (the installation instructions
are included in the scope of delivery of the module).
