Troubleshooting
Symptom/Possible Cause/Suggested Remedy
1. Unit does not start
a) No power
- Verify that the power cord is fully inserted into the VC-10 unit and also fully plugged into a
properly working outlet.
- Check fuses and replace as needed (see Section 3.3 for correct fuse type and part
number).
b) ON/OFF switch actuation or ON/OFF/Foot Pedal switch
- Verify that the switch is in the ON position or verify that the switch is in the Foot Pedal
position and that the foot pedal is properly connected to the unit and is depressed.
c) Worn power cord
- Check plug and cord for excessive wear. Replace as needed.
d) Motor overheated
- Allow motor to cool before continuing procedure.
2. Insufficient vacuum
a) Improper setting
- Adjust knob clockwise.
b) Check vacuum
- See Section 5.2.
c) Disposa-Filter blocked
- Replace as needed.
d) Loose connections on disposable components
- Tighten tubing connections, sealing caps, and lids on canisters.
e) Tube couplings not connected or fully engaged
- Confirm all tubing coupling connections behind rear panel.
f) Collection canister bottle cracked
- Replace as needed.
g) Tubing blocked and/or leaking
- Replace as needed.
h) Slip ring on Vacurette handle open
- Move slip ring over opening.
i) Vacurette cannula blocked or leaking
- Replace as needed.
j) Safety trap(s) not properly installed or clogged
- See Sections 4.2 and/or 9.1.
