c. To unlock a locked caster, lift up the locking mechanism by foot to the unlocked position
(see Figure 6a).
Section 6.0
Procedure
1. Assemble and connect appropriate accessories (see Section 4.0).
2. Dilate the cervix as needed and insert the cannula.
3. The sliding ring on the handle may be used to control the vacuum. If the cannula adheres to the
uterine wall or becomes clogged, release the suction by moving the sliding ring from the closed
position to the open position to decrease the vacuum prior to removal of the cannula.
WARNING: Do not apply excessive force while using the cannulas and F-sets. Excessive pushing,
bending, or pulling could result in injury to the patient and/or breakage of the device.
4. At the end of the procedure discard the Vacurette cannula or F-set, disposable collection tubing
set, and SafeTouch collection system components (including filters and tubing). These items are
intended for single use only.
WARNING: Follow all applicable bloodborne pathogen procedures as indicated by OSHA and/or
hospital/institutional requirements when disposing of single-use products. For further
information, see Section 8.0 Environmental Protection (Health and Safety).
