Section 4.0
4.1

Pump Assembly

1. Verify that the line voltage rating shown on the back panel corresponds to the available power
and that the power receptacle to be used is grounded:
a.
VC-10 (115 VAC, 60 Hz)
2. Attach the appropriate power cord to the back of the unit (female end into the power entry
module, male end into the power outlet) based on the available power as determined in #1
above.
3. If foot pedal control is desired, attach the foot pedal by fully inserting the foot pedal hose
connector to its mating bulkhead receptacle on the front panel of the unit by pushing it straight
in until one click sound is heard, confirming correct "full-engagement". (It will be necessary to
open the front door to gain access to the mating receptacle.) If the foot pedal connector cannot
be inserted into the bulkhead receptacle, it may be necessary to fully depress the "thumb-slide"
of the bulkhead connector downward, which will allow the insertion of the foot pedal connector
into the bulkhead receptacle (see Figure 1).

4.2

Accessory Assembly

For 3/8" collection tubing set (
1. Place a 3/8" primary and secondary collection canister and lids (

901) in the canister holders/receptacles formed into the top cover of the unit. Confirm that the
canister lids are firmly in place.

2. Attach the short tubing end of the Disposa-Filter (B) (
H
(A) and the long tubing end to the "PUMP" port on the secondary collection canister lid (C).
3. Attach a series connecting hose (D) (
M
canister lid (E) and to the "PUMP" port on the primary collection canister (F).

4. Insert either a SafeTouch tissue trap (G) into the "PATIENT" port on the primary collection
canister lid (H), or attach a permeable gauze sack (I) (
"PATIENT" port on the primary collection canister.
5. To prevent the secondary canister from filling prematurely, an aspiration filter (J) (
901) may also be attached to the underside of the "PUMP" port on the primary collection
canister lid.
6. Attach a sterile 3/8" collection tubing set (K) to top of the tissue trap (L) or to the "PATIENT" port
of primary collection canister lid (H).
7. Select and attach a sterile 7–12 mm Vacurette cannula (or 14 mm with adapter
the patient end of the collection tubing set (M).
8. Close off all open ports with sealing caps.
