R button with private branch exchanges
If the telephone is connected to a private branch exchange, all the functions associated
with the R-button, such as transferring calls, automatic call back, etc., can be used.
Please refer to the operating manual provided with your private branch exchange to deter-
mine which Recall time must be set to be able to use the functions. The retailer where you
purchased the exchange can provide information as to whether the telephone will work
properly with the exchange. Setting the recall time . Page 75.
Dialling pause
When using private branch exchanges, it is necessary to dial a specific number to obtain
the dialling tone for an outside line. With some older private branch exchanges, it takes a
little time before the dialling tone becomes audible. Enter a dialling pause in the case of
such private branch exchanges. You can then dial the phone number without having to
wait for the dialling tone. Setting the dialling pause . Page 73.
R-button and supplementary services
The telephone supports the supplementary services offered by your telephone network
provider, such as brokering, call waiting and conference calls. These supplementary ser-
vices can be used in conjunction with the R-button. Please ask your telephone network
provider which recall time must be set in order to use the supplementary services. Contact
your telephone network provider with regard to enabling supplementary services. Setting

Answering machine in the telephone network
If your telephone network provider includes an answering machine for you in the tele-
phone network, the envelope icon (VMWI
recorded for you. The availability of an external answering machine and indication of new
messages via the envelope icon are optional services offered by the telephone network
provider. These functions can only be used when your telephone network provider ac-
tually offers the service. Contact your network provider for further information.
Caller number display (CLIP
If this function is available with your telephone line, the number of the caller appears in the
display when the phone rings. If the caller has suppressed transfer of his phone number,
the corresponding message appears in the display. The phone number is not displayed
and, thus, cannot be stored in the calls list.
