Listening to the radio
Using the RDS display
You can display the different types of RDS
information (RT, PS and PTY as explained on
the previous page) on-screen.

Use the TUNER button to select the
FM band.
RDS is only broadcast on FM.

Press SYS DISP to display RT, PS and
PTY RDS information.
Each press changes the display as follows:

• If any noise is picked up while displaying
Radio Text, some characters may be
displayed incorrectly.

Searching for RDS programs
One of the most useful features of RDS is the
ability to search for a particular kind of radio
program. You can search for any of the
program types (listed on the previous page).

Use the TUNER button to select the
FM band.
RDS is only broadcast on FM.

Press SYS DISP repeatedly until PTY
SEARCH appears in the display.

Use the
buttons to select the program type you
PTY
want to hear.

Press ENTER to search for the program
type.
The system starts searching through the
station presets for a match. When it finds
one, the search stops and the station plays
for five seconds.

If you want to keep listening to
the station, press ENTER within the 5
seconds.
If you don't press ENTER, searching
resumes.
• RDS searches FM station presets only. If
no FM stations have been preset (see
pages 42 to do this), the search mode is
exited.
